A Knight Turned Thief
Aris was trained from a young age by the castle; raised to be an agent on behalf of the king's interests. Sent to train early due to his parent's poverty, it was the only life he ever experienced in which he was well-fed and cared for. Trained in both sorcery and assassination, Aris and his fellow knights became the greatest weapons of the kingdom, used against good and evil alike in order to enrich and empower the king's rule. Aris was instructed to travel to a neighboring kingdom in the shadows of night with the goal of killing the enemy's heir; however, when he arrived, he saw the heir to be only a youth, not the malicious force he had been told. Unable to follow through with the order, Aris fled the knighthood and the king. Due to his skills, he was able to find a place in the thief's guild. While he acts as an expert thief on behalf of the guild, his loyalty does not lie with them. Instead, Aris is constantly seeking a way to conspire against the king and castle who made him a killer. He seeks to topple the kings power and will do whatever is necessary to end the king's rule.

Personality
Aris is cold and distant at the best of times. Calculating and single-minded, he doesn't leave room for emotions or doubt. He functions at every moment as though he's ten steps ahead of everyone else around him, and in fact he often his. His thieving skills far surpass most everyone else in the guild, only a few able to rival his abilities, so others know not to question him. He devotes a good deal of his free time to training himself and furthering his skills; motivated both by a fear of failure and a devotion to his work.
Aris is relatively quiet, not speaking unless he has something to say. His words are always weighted heavily, not wasting a single syllable when he opens his mouth. He shows very little warmth to most, and is far from personable even with guild members. When working, he is completely focused. Nothing will get in the way of his mark. Cross him, and he will have no trouble pulling his weapons, whether he knows your name or not. Shedding blood is simply part of the job for him, and it holds no more impact for him than picking a lock or taking jewelry from the rich. He simply does as he needs to for the situation and doesn't stop to reflect on it; though the faces of those he's hurt do haunt his nightmares in the dead of night.
However, Aris's attitude is one-sided. He is cold to those he does not trust, such as the fellow thieves who are known for planting daggers in each other's backs. To the younger members of the guild, however, he is like a older brother. He is exceptionally protective, and seeks to be a guiding figure for them. He is willing to set everything aside to train a younger thief, and will give his life to be certain they are safe. He devotes much of his time and worry to the safety of the young thieves.
Aris has given the world a cold shoulder. While he strives to make up for the wrong he has done by restoring order to the world and taking down those that were enriched and empowered by the killing he did under the service of the king, he doesn't feel that he owes the world anything more than that. He will seek his revenge, but he will not change his ways; he will seek to better the world by removing the abusive from power but he won't spare a warm word or shred of kindness that he doesn't feel is deserved.

Summary
Early Life
Arisarchos was born to a farming community on the outskirts of the kingdom, rural and remote. His family raised crops, selling and trading within the community to make a living and obtain what they needed. Aris loved to help out on the farm and running around he wide-open fields with his friends. It was at a young age that, during a drought that killed their crops and leveled their income, Aris's parents found themselves poor and starving, and their child alongside them. They had no choice to try to find a better life for their son, and so he was sent to the castle where he was to be tested to determine if he would fit into the castle's academy, which trained youth to be the castle staff such as maids and knights. He was taken in and trained for the most prestigious position of the castle: to be a warrior of the moonlight.
The kingdom, it's symbol being the moon, placed these elite knights above all else. Over the years, Aris learned the skills and sorcery to be one of these powerful and mysterious warriors, working with every ounce of his strength to be the best warrior he could be so that, one day, he could make enough money to give back to his parents and alleviate their debts. Aris graduated, and joined the ranks of this force. Whatever was asked of him he did without question; whatever secret actions needed to be taken to enrich he king and ensure his power were among his domain. Assassination and indiscriminate killing were among his skills, and he never failed nor missed a mark.
The Thieves' Guild
Aris lived this life for years, the best warrior of the moonlight in the kingdom, until the king's evil spirit became too much, and Aris was told to kill the heir to a neighboring kingdom: a child no more than six years old. The warrior was about to swing the knife when he realized the age of the heir and couldn't go through with it. Instead, he fled, leaving the king's service behind him. Announced dead by the kingdom to cover his betrayal, he had no choice but to go into hiding. He found the thieves' guild, and, with the skills taught to him while in service to the king, became one of the greatest thieves in the land. He focuses his theft on the king's allies, the rich of the kingdom who wish to protect their wealth. He works to topple the king's power, to the point of taking the lives of key conspirers. His goal is to make up for the lives he took before he knew the evil his actions were serving.
