Glim hails from the planet Marth 725, in the farway Zioruta System. His species was an amphibious one, residing both in the planet's huge oceans and its deserts, which, unlike those of Earth's, were brimming with life and civilization. It was a nice place to live, but Glim's imagination always brought him elsewhere. He knew that the universe was vast and there was so much more to explore than what he had seen growing up- he grew antsy, often getting lost staring up at the sky and daydreaming about what he would find should he gain the ability to make his new home elsewhere.

The opportunity presented itself to Glim in his teenage years. One of his friends told him about a space exploration project, one made for finding and learning about other cultures, and they happened to be accepting applications for civilians who dreamed of becoming spacefarers. Glim hopped on the opportunity immediately and spent the next few weeks biting his nails in excitement... only to be denied access. This wouldn't stop him, though- he didn't know if he'd ever see such a good opportunity like this again, so he quickly came up with a plan to get out and figure out his own way to the planet the scientists and handful of civilians were going to. It was easy enough to look it up, as the place was well-known on the continent on which he lived. With the help of his friend, Glim packed up his things and traveled there, reaching the place just in time. It took a great deal of stealth, but just as the others were climbing aboard, he managed to sneak onboard and hide himself away.

Over the duration of the travel, he stole small amounts of food and kept himself hidden, managing to avoid being caught by taking great care, something that he was fairly used to having been shy and avoidant of people for most of his young life. When they reached Earth, they landed in the deserts of Southern California, and immediately, Glim fell in love. While the space crew went one way to do their studies on the culture and life of Earth, Glim went another way, managing to find his way into an accepting community and making himself at home on this new planet. He quickly adopted many of their art forms, falling in love with the creativity of the planet, and learning to draw and write and bake for himself. He fell in love with their stories, too, and with the way that some of the lifeforms there seemed to care for plants so much, even starting to cultivate and care for some plants of his own (mostly succulents, cacti, and flowers).

But still, there was a lot to get used to. The bright days were very different from the long nights from his own home, and his eyes were not used to the bright sun here- the lights and curtains in his home were usually off and pulled down, and when he went out, he often wore sunglasses and hats to protect himself from the burning star. Cities here were much more sociable and crowded than where he'd come from, and buildings tended to be a bit more claustrophobic. The sterile, unwelcoming environments of hospitals and doctors scared him, and he couldn't stand the violence that he saw in some of their stories, animated or otherwise. And finally, in general, social cues and skills were MUCH different than those of Marth 725. He struggled to get used to it, and often stood out in groups even besides his species, making him feel confused and embarrassed frequently.

Even though life was so different and took quite a bit of getting used to, though, he still felt it was worth it to stay, and he still grew to love his life and home on Earth. It would take a lot of learning, sure, but he would stay for the art, the baking, the beautiful and soothing rain and storms, and so much more.
