TW: child abuse, weird shit, uhhhh be careful
Mysta was born accidently into a abusive household. (o shit kind of like kahlo i didn't even realise lmao) They did not care for his existence (especially due to his father not being "the father" if you get me). Some neighbours found out about a child being born to them, and informed the council who took Mysta away from them (not that they cared) and to be put into adoption. Most of the adoption agencies/homes nearby were full, or did not have the resources to take him in, so he was moved halfway across the country, where people did not look like him. Anybody who came in to adopt immediately passed over him with something akin to disgust, which heightened the already salty gaze of the workers/carers there. The emptiness of the adoption home he was taken into was due to the high number of children adopted/successful pairings, meaning kids that were brought in here soon left. Aside from Mysta. The average time a kid passes through those doors averaged to about 2-3 months, but at this point, he had been in there for 5-6 years. Staff were beginning to treat him like a curse, forcing him to carry out chores (cuz if hes there he might as well work, right?) that none of the actually paid staff wanted to do. This did however mean that he was allowed in staff only and restricted areas, but as he was only 6 (or so), he was often out of gaze of the workers, and ended up being "accidently" involved in some accidents, including heavy objects falling on him, being trampled, falling (defo not being pushed) out of a 3rd story window, etc etc.
He ended up spending a large amount of his time outside, in the small garden area of the adoption agency, behind a large cherry tree. It was there when he heard his first crow speak to him, shouting warnings about a large metal machine making its way over here (the crow wasn't talking directly to Mysta, but more shouting to let other animals know of the approaching hazard). Though Mysta wasn't truely listening to the warning, and more listening to this crow, in awe of being able to hear its words. Mysta cried out to the crow, jumping and waving to get it's attention, but the Crow mearly cried back "Run human thing!! It is coming!" But the cry was short lived, as an Excavator crashed through the wall of the garden, barrelling towards Mysta and the tree. The crow dived down and yanked Mysta back just before the thing would have completely squashed him, but not enough to put him out of harm, as the Excavator smashed into the cherry tree, tipping forwards, the bucket careening across Mysta's face.
It was then when Shadow Helpers found him, and brought him in. He healed, and the crow refused to leave the side of this human boy who had spoken to him.
The bunker Mysta was moved into was were he met K, who had been in there since she could remember (her power manifested like super early, as soon as she was given baby protein foods LOL) so was basically being raised in here. She was a little weird, so other people who were in the bunker avoided her (not out of malice they just didn't get along), but she approached Mysta to try befriend him as the new kid. He was in medical care for the first like 2-3 months he was in there anyway due to his injuries but K often came in to play with the crow. Eventually Mysta saw K's power, and how differently her two forms acted/reacted, (this part im not sure about bcz i havent thought about it) essentially he befrended their "normal" form, who thinks Mysta is super cool older brother figure, whereas K's other form, Mysta began to manipulate into thinking he was way above them, essentially becoming his pawn.
When moving to CA, (Mysta was taken into CA uhhh two years before K?) in his second year he met Seb (seb was a first year, Mysta was a second). Mysta saw Seb as another K (two forms) and thought perhaphs it would work the same, but Seb obviously keeps his mental state over each form, and refused to talk to Mysta to give them any ideas about how to interract in that way to seb (even the crows couldn't really find out because Seb spent so much time isolated/not talking to people so the crows never saw seb spar/never saw his aversion to blood and stuff). Things got weird between Mysta and Seb because of this (Seb thought Mysta was super overbearing and was confused why they were so pushy, and Mysta was lowkey infuriated that Seb was unable to be put under thumb).
In Mysta's year three, K finally joined CA, and obviously hung around Mysta a lot, but eventually befriended Seb (vaguely, he still wasn't really in a "friend me!" mood until year 6-7) and would often invite both Seb and Mysta to hang out. Seb did appreciate K's efforts to socialise with Seb (reminded him of his old friend) but just still did NOT get good vibes from mysta, and mysta wanted to keep up his reputation to K's normal side as a really good friend/brother figure, so it often ends up with K being absolutely oblivious to the two boys dislike of each other LMAO
