Feathershade was born in GorgeClan. She was born in Leaf-bare, an unfortunate event that resulted in the death of her littermates. She barely survived this harsh period but made it to Newleaf. Her mother, Berrypatch, became ferociously protective of her only kit. However, she never revealed the father’s identity to anyone and, for years, Feathershade pondered who he might have been. Despite this secret, her kithood was otherwise very uneventful. She was well-loved by her mother and dreamed of one day becoming a warrior.

Once Feathershade turned six moons old, she was made an apprentice. She was ecstatic about beginning her training and desperately wanted to impress her clan. She wanted to hunt and patrol all day but didn’t shy away from the less desirable chores in camp. Her apprenticeship was going smoothly and – while she still had much to learn – the future looked promising. However, before she could earn her warrior name, Feathershade’s mother would pass away. She died of greencough, when Feathershade was around ten moons old. This deeply saddened Feathershade but drove her to complete her apprenticeship, wishing to make her mother proud of her.

In the coming moons, Feathershade served her clan with a tenacious sense of honour and dignity. Although a fairly lonesome cat, Feathershade finds great pleasure in protecting her clanmates, even if she can seem a little grumpy at times. Hence, it was very surprising when she stumbled across a KnollClan molly at GorgeClan’s border and would later fall in love with the enemy warrior. When tensions between the two clans became unbearable, Feathershade and Chickadeeshine would plan to run away together. They were successful and decided to live on the edge of the Twoleg Place, away from the war that had nearly divided them. For the rest of their days, they lived in harmony together - never having much but always having love.
