The first ever manmade cryptid, he was made as a method for humans to communicate with the old gods- a project completely funded by a corrupt multi-million dollar company called the Summoners of Arcifer. They tried bombarding his body with nuclear radiation, worshiping it, using electricity, nothing worked...

Until the first human sacrifice was made in front of his body- it sent Arcifer (a faceless, formless figure spanning thousands of dimensions) into a rage, enough to reach out and latch onto the body they made for him. But instead of communicating, they had created a weapon set on destroying all of humankind. It killed those who made it and leveled the building.

It didn't stop there, though. It leveled the city. Cities. Countless countries were all destroyed and civilization itself was uprooted due to the ignorance and hubris of man...

The war between humans and cryptids (specifically the father of all moths) lasted hundreds of years.

Eventually all humans were either eradicated or they were driven underground- which led to the next thousands of years... where animal hybrids took over and reclaimed and rebuild society. Cities were erected, amazing social connections, everything was as it was before...

The Mothman merely watched from a distance, but one day he decided to introduce himself and reform from his past atrocities... starting with dressing up as popular video game characters and taking up a new hobby to gain "worshippers" in the form of streaming fans..
