Independent Overconfident Ruthless

O

nce a member of Lord El'urras Naxxremis, Chancellor of Carrichit III, retinue, Circinus (formerly known as Viper) was genetically modified to better suit the role he'd been born to fill—namely that of a bodyguard and assassin for his master. Having played a lead role in a failed coup against his Lord, Circinus barely managed to escape with his life, having vastly overestimated how much sway he held over El'urras' other faithful servants.

Despite nearly dying at the hands of those he had once worked alongside and branding himself as a disloyal traitor, Circinus seemed to thrive in his new-found life as a mercenary unbound by the rules and restrictions that come with pledging allegiance to any particular organization or person.

As a drifter, Circinus rarely spends long on any particular planet, or even any specific planetary system, than is needed to finish whatever job he has accepted—partly because he enjoys the freedom that comes with going wherever he pleases, and partly because he's a wanted person almost anywhere he goes. Both his betrayal and the often less than savorable tasks he carries out for others have earned him quite the reputation, as well as plenty of enemies that would take great delight in ending his existence once and for all.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS, I WILL GUT YOU IF I NEED TO.
I WILL CARVE MY WAY OUT WITH ONLY MY TEETH.

Circinus stands at an impressive height of 6'6'' / 198 cm with a highly athletic and muscular build well-suited for tasks that require both endurance and brute strength. Despite his line of work, he has no noteworthy scars or blemishes, all attributed to the regenerative healing factor genetic modification has blessed him with. He is capable of withstanding physical damage that would kill most average people, and his almost terrifingly high pain tolerance allows him to push through injuries that would otherwise incapacitate him. As a last resort, he will often fall back on using his fangs, which are capable of injecting potent venom that will briefly paralyze a wide variety of life forms to allow for another attack—or, at the very least, give him an opportunity to slip away and recuperate.

The first impression one would get of Circinus is that of a cocky, self-assured man who believes himself capable of achieving anything he sets his mind to. He is no stranger to the intricate arts of manipulation and deceit—though he can be brutally honest, he often plays his cards close to his chest, preferring to keep his true intentions and feelings to himself. If there's one thing he has learned in his life, it's to rely on nobody but himself, as most people can easily be swayed by their own selfish desires.

Below the bold and brash exterior lies a deeply rotten core driven by nothing but the thrill of the hunt and a need to indulge his own wicked whims whenever possible. Circinus is surprisingly methodical and conniving when it comes to his work as a mercenary, displaying a cold and vicious, near sadistic demeanour on the job. It's obvious he takes delight in his craft, and while he can sometimes get carried away in the heat of the moment and rarely makes back-up plans in case something goes wrong, it is obvious that this is what he was born and genetically modified to do.

Outside of his job, Circinus doesn't display a wide variety of emotions. Though more than happy to indulge in hedonistic pleasures, he seems to care little about forming deep connections with other people, least of all platonic or romantic ones. Most of his alliances are made out of necessity and temporary at best, quickly discarded or betrayed when they no longer serve his purpose. Earning his respect his hard, and his loyalty even harder, if not downright impossible. Circinus subscribes to the idea that only the strong will survive, and that the strong deserve to take whatever they want from the weak, and as such he only (very begrudingly) respects those superior then him. But even they are not safe from him—even the strongest, most influential and powerful people can be brought to their downfall if you bide your time and wait for the right moment, after all.
