Kenji

At a young age Kenji was always “the man of the house” due to his father not being in his life. His mother always forced him to shoulder responsibilities that shouldn’t have been for him. His mother would frequently force him to run errands that should have been up to her, putting Kenji in a bad spot. 

Due to raising Kenji alone, she racked up debt and made Kenji talk with the people she was in debt with. Kenji would often come home with injuries due to this. 

He resented his mother because of his upbringing, but it reached a boiling point when Muzan arrived offering to “burden” the debt for her and fix the situation. She instead offered up Kenji, knowing what Muzan had planned. Muzan turned him into a demon and took him with him.

Kenji’s upbringing is something he doesn’t remember much of. He remembers the anger that his so called childhood brings him; this anger carried over into his time as a demon. First day of becoming a demon Kenji slaughtered many, starting with his mother and those she had sent him to. Kenji was usually not very aggressive, but he was blinded by the rage he had built up over the years. 

Over time he forgot why he was doing this, all this senseless killing. Everything was a haze and felt pointless, until one day he seen a lone Slayer in the woods. He was going to attack her but something stopped him. He watched her as she slayed the demons surrounding her. He was curious, but cautious as they’re natural born enemies. After watching her carefully for a bit he decided it would be best to leave. 

After the initial meeting, Kenji caught glimpses of her during her missions but didn’t interact until sometime later.
