oscar wilburn

introduction.

oscar is my spidersona, or, more of a spiderman oc that i heavily project onto. his name as spiderman is spider-bite, and he was bitten by a radioactive vampire spider and is definitely NOT a vampire now he just needs to drink blood or he gets really weak and also he's suddenly really sensitive to light. these things are unrelated entirely. he works at an aquarium and wants to be a marine biologist, but doesn't have time between his job and being spider-bite

oscar could be summarised as being a dork who pretends not to be. he can seem a bit offputting or even rude due to the cold exterior he puts on. because of being so distrusting, he prefers to keep to himself and not get overly attached to those around him. there's a lot of pressure that he puts on himself to not fail anybody else and act a certain way to be respected that ironically drives a lot of people away from him. he's very awkward when he does like being around somebody but will die for them once they're let into his life

• he grew up near a beach being cared for by his aunts
  • his father was absent and his mother couldn't care for him alone - they do still have contact
• one time when he was 8, him and his sister, florence, were swimming in the ocean but she got dragged away by some strong waves
  • oscar went after her but was dragged under the water and injured badly by the rocks
    • he was rescued by bystanders but it was too late for his sister - this started a morbid fascination with the ocean and marine life, but also an intense phobia of drowning and swimming
  • because of what happened, his relationship with his mother became strained - her grief and his guilt made them distant
  • when he was 20, he was bitten by the radioactive vampire spider that made him spider-bite
    • he started experiencing a need to drink blood which ended in him attacking an innocent person and killing them once by accident - this is what made him start fighting criminals and etc since he could drink their blood without feeling as guilty
  • the person he killed was actually very close to a villain and lead them to tracking him down to get revenge
    • when he was 21 his aunt was shot and killed for being associated with him, but the killer isn't caught

design notes.

• he has eyebags
• body type is lean
• his hair is streaked white from stress (feel free to add more white strands)
• he has lots of random scars on his body from fights so have fun with that
  • the scars on his face are important though - he scraped his face on some rocks when he nearly drowned
• he wears a lot of button up shirts and likes to dress formally when he's out
  • he does however own a bunch of nerdy t-shirts and hoodies that he refuses to be seen in
• if you draw him standing especially please include his cane (it can shoot webs) - he's a full time cane user
