Kei

"Today's teardrops are tomorrow's rainbows"

Kei is the cloud, rain, and rainbow goddess of the Angio Pantheon. She is often depicted as bright, bubbly, and optimistic. She only has one arm, her right arm, due to the origin of her form, having ripped the original deity that she was an aspect of apart in the name of love.

Trivia

  • Kei and Tynan used to be one deity that controlled all aspects of the water, but being split has split their abilities.
  • Kei is said to be forever locked into the sky due to their decision.
  • Although the myths are kind, there's no indication she ever reached the Sky Monarch with her act.
  • Because of Kei's underwater origin, her ears resemble fins and she often is depicted with webbing.

Design Notes

  • Kei's hair can be any shape, as it is a literal cloud.
  • Kei only has a 'solid' right arm and legs, but can make other limbs out of clouds as her form is entirely gaseous.
  • Kei has vitiligo, but it can shift and don't feel the need to be the same as the reference.
  • The style of the ears and the non vitiligo markings are a species staple and are required.

Background

The Twin Water Deities used to be one being, however, legend says that the beauty of the Sun Monarch drew the Deity to them like a moth to a flame. The deity was so torn about continuing their duties under the waves and seeing this new beauty they tore themselves in two, a male half and a female half. The female half rose into the sky to join the monarch forever, but they evaporated when they came close, becoming the clouds and the rain that complemented the world and allowed Angios to truly blossom. The other twin stayed deep in the sea, mourning the loss of his twin and creating the turbulent waters.

The female twin, Kei, having sacrificed her material form to reach out towards the Sky Monarch, no longer has a bloom of any sort, instead having a cloud-like apparition in its place that constantly shifts forms depending on her mood.

Each twin only has one arm, the female twin having the right and the male having the left, an evidence of their separation. Most statues of them are depicted with them holding hands, showing their bond even while separated by endless space, which is thought to be shown in the water cycle.
