He has the ability to control people if he consumes their dna. This could be eating hair, blood, spit, etc. the more they consume the longer they can control someone for. They can also do this with animals. The rings on their hands so how much stored up ability they have per being. Most of the time they just eat hair, they do not enjoy it.
