Originally from Watatsumi Island, Youshio was lost at sea at a young age, being saved and taken in by a group of Seafaring Nobushi. Growing up with outlaws shaped his worldview. He holds a great distrust of the ruling clans, and anyone working beneath them, but is friendly to most common folk.
Despite being considered a criminal to the Tri-Commission of Inazuma, he'll often take on dangerous jobs transporting materials from Seirai and Tsurumi. He's not someone easily scared, and is willing to get his hands dirty if need be.

Trivia
- Youshio's concept has remained relatively the same throughout his existence, always being aligned with the Nobushi.
- His specialty is a variant on the Grilled Unagi Fillet, Campfire Kabayaki. Grilled over a campfire, the unagi has a uniquely smokey taste to it.
- Youshio's constellation is Serpens Rex, Serpent King. This relates to his unagi theming, but also to Orobashi, calling back to his Watatsumi origin.
- For character development materials, Youshio uses Transience talent books, Nobushi materials, Marionette Cores, Mirrors of Mushin, and Dendrobiums.
- I often picture him with the Akuoumaru claymore. His actual weapon is called Moonlight's Bane, a claymore fitting with his colour palette, with similar shapes to the Everlasting Moonglow weapon.
- It can be considered a parallel to Everlasting Moonglow, a heavy weapon in contrast to the lightness of a catalyst.

Youshio's family isn't the most loving or caring, but the small band sticks together and supports each other. Youshio maintains contact and a good relationship with them despite his travels.

If you ask Youshio about them, prepare for nothing but negativity. He already has a great disrespect for authority and it's mostly because of them. It's only due to his skill and strength that he hasn't been arrested or killed yet.

Misc.
- His left eye is always covered. The eye itself is red with black sclera, meant to invoke the designs of the nobushi.
- Design-wise, takes inspiration mainly from Kazuha and the various Nobushi, with his armour on one side and his tattoos.
- Although, parts of his design (normal eye, side hair pieces, etc.) are meant to look similar to features Kokomi has.
- Has patterns on his outfit meant to resemble eels.
