Made a deal with the "Wish Doctor" to bring happiness to  his beloved town without realizing there would be consequences. His town fell into dispair as they were unable to stop laughing and eventually perished from this curse. He lied and hid from his people even when his daughter disappeared, only coming forward when the party arrives and he begs them for help. He resigned out of shame after the curse was lifted.
