personality

River has a very sweet, low-key demeanor. He treats everyone as if they were his friends and he has a deep interest in those around him. He loves listening to other people talk about their experiences, even if they are mundane - he's an active listener who stays engaged in a conversation and asks a lot of questions, which may make him seem nosy to some.

Others are drawn to him because of his natural charisma and wit. He often goes out of his way to make every moment special; he's the one to spontaneously get gifts for his friends or to throw a quick party when nobody has any plans for the week. Other people's happiness and well-being take priority over his own, often to the point where he forgets to take care of himself. He downplays his problems to make those around him worry less - he carries on as usual, even if he'd rather rest.

While it may seem like he does things without putting effort into them, it's not always the case. He's an ambitious, hard-working man; he doesn't like to make a spectacle out of his accomplishments, nor does he like to make anything he does seem extraordinary. He doesn't see himself as someone "born with a gift", but as someone who put thousands of hours into practicing and perfecting different aspects of himself.

River doesn't like it when others treat him as someone superior to others just because of his moderate success in the music industry. He often goes out of his way to bridge the gap between him and his fans - he treats them like his friends and maintains a humble, polite persona around them.

Despite having the appearance of someone very relaxed, River's a rather anxious man. He often finds himself thinking of all the bad things that could happen to him at a given moment, but they're never overly specific. It's the reason why he's agitated when there's nobody else around - he's afraid that there won't be anybody to help him in case his fears come true. He finds ambient noise to be very helpful in keeping him calm, be it a podcast or some random video he'd found online.

He finds heated arguments to be counter-productive and therefore ends the conversation whenever there's too much tension for him, or when he gets upset himself. This often leads to situations where he refuses to talk to someone he finds "too angry" at the moment. He doesn't like talking to others when he's angry and will become increasingly more annoyed the more he's forced to talk. He doesn't like being forced to do things.

Trivia

• He rarely performs with his eyes open - even after many years of performing, he still deals with stage fright when in front of a large crowd. He's a lot calmer with his eyes closed.
• His face gets red very easily, be it from extreme emotions or the weather.
• He's allergic to animal fur. The only pets he's ever had were lizards and fish - he remembers them very fondly.
• He knows a lot about human anatomy thanks to his friend Quinn; when they lived together, Quinn would wander around their apartment and read out his notes from class. 
• River has an easy time falling asleep anywhere and anytime, as long as he's warm and cozy.
