Montgomery Crawford was born to parents Jedidiah Crawford, a local human cow rancher, and Ambrosia, a druidic Orc. Though he never knew his mother as she left soon after he was born, Monty’s father spoke highly of her throughout his childhood.
Monty grew up as the only Half-Orc in his town and while some people loathed him for this, his father and Aunt Jo had enough reputation to get him by. It also didn’t help that he seemed to have a small but magical connection with nature, commonly manifesting itself as bits of leaves sprouting from his hair when it rained.
Monty would help his father raise cows on their ranch, taking the best ones out of town for shows and while this occupation wasn’t Monty’s passion, he was happy to help his father in any way. When Monty was young, a calf was born to their farm too sickly and small to ever be a proper show cow. Monty begged his father to still keep it and promising he’d take care of the calf himself, to which his father eventually agreed.
