if someone offers concern or care to him, he'll most likely give them some food. if they show thanks he gives a rare sincere smile
kant was always a strange child, refusing to share anything and causing a huge ruckus when something he proclaimed his wa taken. the only thing he would share was food, and even that was a gamble, as he often requested something special to the other child in return(he was upset because they didnt see the food as something important, while he did)
his parents expressed concern when he showed no interest in anything that was popular with the other kids unless it was old, forgotten, or not well known. he instead would stare off into the distance, sometimes accompanied by muttering(not in elvish, never in elvish). he was ostracized by the other kids, and even the other adults in their village.
when he turned 10 he first heard common spoken. he quickly became enamored with the language, and specifically the word "Kant" and requested his parents started calling him that. His parents, relieved to see his interested in something other than staring into the distance and murmuring, followed his meager request.
Of course, when word got around the village the weird boy had requested to be called Kant, the other young ones became to mock him about it, trying to make plays off his name into rude things. he never really seemed to be paying attention to the taunts unless someone forcibly brought him to attention. nobody except his parents called him by kant.
when he was 17 hes accosted on his way home from collecting herbs for his mother. the fellow elves threaten to cut an unresponsive kants ear off because hes " not fit to be called an elf" . kant only starts responding when the knife gets about inch into his ear, and the other elves see his eyes clear before the one holding the knife gets punched with a power they didnt think kant had. they all stumble away when they hear someone calling kants name.
he passes the years until his 50th birthday under a general monotony, with most days kant goes out to collect herbs. he does wonder somewhat how he always finds herbs so easily, but dismisses it to instead daydream about one of a kind things. on this fateful day, however, he wanders further into the forest. he doesnt really register its because of the faint tugging on his cloak and sleeves and the sweet voices telling him to follow them until hes stood in front of a faerie circle.
against probably his better judgement ( because he did think about this, and all the warnings his mother and father gave him, it not like he WANTS to die), he steps in. in some ways, kant fully expected to die entering the circle. it wouldve been easier on his parents probably, he knew he made the Holixilo family outcasts. So still having control of his body when he entered the circle was a nice surprise, and the dancing of all of the fae was nice to watch, too. So he stood there and stared, for god knows how long.
At some point he becomes aware of a gaze boring into him, and turns to greet it with glazed eyes. He doesnt mean to be rude or inattentive, hes just like that, and the presence seems to note that. he is brought into shocked clarity when she begins to speak, however, and his senses are flooded. everything is... sharper. He can see the grass around him, and its so very very green. The air smells like salt. The woman in front of him is the fae seelie queen, and she laughs at his confused expression. she offers him to stay for a bit, and some food. kant does stay 3 days, the minimum requested time of Queen Titania, and doesnt eat a single thing in those days that he did not bring in himself.
when he tells the queen hes leaving on the third day she gives him a scroll to a deed of land. it is not to the feywild or the plane he is from. she does not explain and he barely asks
he leaves the feywild. its 19 years later
he goes back home, but theres no longer a home. most of the village is gone. most noticably his parents. the only people left are people who hated him, and they kick him out with a moment to gather stuff from the rubble
