It was late one night that the siren's song was heard from an island a ways away. A crewmember aboard the Astraea ship went searching, and found Dorian pinned between the rocks and impaled in his tail by a bit of wreckage, crying out in pain and as a last hope. The crewmate on watch that night called for help, and the Astraea crew took him in.

A young and naïve siren, it was his first time on land. It was also revealed that he didn't have a name yet. These combined made for an interesting adjustment period, with him having to learn to walk and taught how to be social, as well as be named.
