A skilled and meticulous pokemon trainer with an annoyingly sharp intellect and a knack for taking on more than most could handle. Though he's an Elite Eight member, he seems to be off-rotation more than he is on. Few trainers have had the chance to take him on; rumor has it he's too strong for most.

Despite how rarely he shows face at his official post, he's not an unfamiliar face to the region's various gym leaders. He often travels around, visiting various cities and their gyms.

Intelligent, capable, and snarky, Pierce has a reputation among his peers of being the man for the job -- if you can handle a little ribbing. He's meticulous in everything he does and rarely leaves anything undone of his own will. He's never known moderation when it comes to competency; too much of it is never a bad thing.

Pierce may be outwardly prickly and seemingly untouchable, but beneath his thin veneer and vast vocabulary lies a humanitarian of unequal proportion. He loves people and pokemon more than he knows what to do with, and so he channels it into improving the world around him. It tethers him to the present, between the state of the world as it is and his personal quest for vengeance.

When he was fifteen, his mother, Minerva Cassius, disappeared in a lab accident. He was the only witness -- and he knows it wasn't a lab accident. He just needs to know who and what exactly it was. Though he was once an aspiring academic, well-known amidst the scientific community, he ceased all lab activity after the incident and cut down on contacting nearly everyone who knew him before. Ever since then, he's dedicated himself to the pursuit of just what happened to his mother, and how to stop it from ever happening again.

Not that he'd tell anyone that. Those who knew him and his mother know just how dramatically her disappearance changed him, but not his aims. They'd be able to tell you he threw himself into pokemon battling and rose in the ranks to the elite four in that time and has remained at the post for years if they looked into it, but nothing more. His mother was handling topics that put a target on her back -- and Pierce is ever-vigilant in making sure no one else shares the same fate. It may distance him from the people he loves and the world he's constantly fighting for, but it's a sacrifice he has to make for their sake.
