She's just evil. There's no other way to describe her. She only thinks of herself and will do anything, to anyone, to get what she wants. She leads others on with the delusion that she has their best interests in mind, and then betrays them every time.

Chapter Zero: Prologue
Before Otto
Her mother died in childbirth and her father killed himself because he didn't want to live without her. Everyone treated her like a bad luck charm and avoided her. When it became apparent that she had magic, which is a rare thing, it only made children her own age hate her and be jealous of her.
Her Story
A friend
She met Otto, another outcast because of his brain injury, and he was never scared of her magic. He found it interesting and they became best friends. Aella would protect him with her life.
Otto's brain injury caused him to have boughts of memory loss and emotional unstability so the other group members thought of him as a risk to them and tried to kill him.
Dark magic isn't hard to access. Instead of using spells and potions, you draw the magic from inside you. They say it drains you of your humanity and compassion and morals, which is why it's forbidden.
Aella wasn't fast enough to reach Otto before members of the group killed him and she went into a rage. She tapped into dark magic and revived Otto using necromancy and killed many of her group members.
They weren't able to stop her because she was too powerful so they exiled her to a different universe. She was dumped in Espia and was happy to participate in the war. She continued to use dark magic at the cost of her "humanity" but continued to protect Otto as if he was her little brother.
Best Friend
Otto was the first, and only, to not be scared or jealous of her magic which made her love him. She is very protective of him and will kill anyone that hurts him. He is the only exception to her selfishness.
