Puddlekit is a very shy, sensitive and skittish young cat. She doesn’t really like to interact with others and it can take multiple tries to try and make her open up to strangers. However, once she has connected with someone, she is very clingy to them. She is struggling to adapt to clan life, but her family hopes she’ll get there in her own time.
Despite her seeming dislike of others, Puddlekit has a deep want for emotional connection and stability. From this, she is fiercely loyal to those who show her kindness and support, and clings strongly to those who are a part of her life. Often wanting to escape reality, Puddlekit has a strong imagination and likes to create fantastical worlds and scenarios in her mind. This also helps her find solace and joy in her surroundings despite the challenges she faces. However, this can also make her very unfocused and she can struggle with not dreaming in her head.
Growing up in what felt like a tense environment, Puddlekit has learned to pick up on subtle cues and emotions as a means of self-preservation. She is highly observant of others' body language, tone of voice, and expressions to gauge their intentions and mood. However she often assumes the worst and that cats have short fuses. Puddlekit is cautious and hesitant when it comes to forming new relationships or trusting others, she is wary of opening up to people. She might take her time before fully accepting others into her life. However, when it does come to those she loves and trusts, or are responsible for her, she trusts them wholeheartedly and will do as they say, even if it doesn’t always make sense to her.
Puddlekit is very sensitive and emotional. She is very attuned to the feelings of those around her and is easily affected by the environment she is in. Puddlekit can get easily overwhelmed and will sometimes burst into tears and need to cling to a trusted cat until she has calmed down again. Puddlekit is timid and very hesitant to ever assert herself, fearing rejection or conflict.
DESIGN
BACKGROUND
Childhood
Risinglake gives birth to her second litter, a single kitten fathered by her mate, Sandrush. Both warriors reside in the RoseNest and are past Seaclan warriors. Keeping to clan naming traditions, they call the molly Puddlekit.
Though the pair are mates, they don't seem to have a particularly deep connection and disagree and argue a lot. Puddlekit is often unsettled by the difficult environment. However, her older brother from her parents' previous single-kit litter, Muskpaw often takes the time to look out for and comfort Puddlekit when their parents are being "feather-brained furballs". Muskpaw affectionately calls Puddlekit "Puddles".
Whilst Puddlekit is still very young, her parents decide that she and Muskpaw should follow the other RoseNest cats to the Clans, most of which who left some time prior. Puddlekit doesn't really understand why, but doesn't want to leave home either! But her parents insist, and worse, her mother is staying behind! Puddlekit cries that she doesn't want to go or be without her mother, but her parents won't be persuaded. Muskpaw is also angry and doesn't want to go, but tries to comfort Puddlekit once more.
For most of the journey Sandrush has Muskpaw carry Puddlekit. Puddlekit is often on edge and scared during the trip, and hopes it'll finish soon.
The family arrive at the territories and Sandrush takes them straight to Seaclan territory. Puddlekit is overwhelmed by all the unfamiliar faces, and still misses her mother. One oddly familiar face that keeps resurfacing belongs to a tom named Dunebreeze, and Muskpaw explains to Puddlekit that this is their uncle! Puddlekit is a bit uncertain of him, but can tell he's trying really hard to be nice, and relaxes around him a little.
Puddlekit stays in Seaclan's nursery for a few days with Muskpaw watching over her, and keeps wondering when they're going to go home. One day, outside of camp, Sandrush announces that he's leaving, and though initially relieved, Puddlekit realises he's leaving without them! Puddlekit is set of by this again, and doesn't want this, but Sandrush wishes them luck and leaves regardless. Muskpaw is staying mostly stoic, but Puddlekit can tell he's very upset and angry too.
After some loitering outside camp, Dunebreeze notices the pair and asks what's happened. Muskpaw explains and Dunebreeze seems mostly calm, and offers to take the pair back inside and tell Burntstar they'll be staying. Muskpaw handles it.
Once they're accepted, Muskpaw takes Puddlekit back to the Nursery on the hunt for a nanny/foster parent for her. Puddlekit worries a lot about this, but a gentle, older molly named Fawnjump agrees to take her in. She seems to be a good choice as she's already caring for multiple other kittens who aren't her own, and Puddlekit is just happy to be able to blend in, even if she doesn't really want to get to know her new siblings or nanny at first.
Puddlekit adjusts little by little. Fawnjump is reassuring and Muskpaw drops by frequently to check on her, and Dunebreeze always takes the time to visit every day as well, to talk and sometimes even play. Slowly, Puddlekit starts getting used to her new life and company. She still misses her parents, but is very glad to have Fawnjump and Dunebreeze instead. She'd even say they're a little bit nicer!

- Muskpaw wasn't very fond of their clan names at the RoseNest, and gave Puddlekit the nickname "Puddles", and still calls her this.
