image.png 【Shuppet】 Starter Pokemon, Cayenne
Carmen's first Pokemon. They met in Paldea after Carmen was bullied for not having a Pokemon of her own. Initially, Cayenne was drawn to the dread Carmen was experiencing over her conflict, but upon seeing him, Carmens worries evaporated. Cayenne realized the source of misery it was looking to feed on wasn't coming directly from Carmen, but rather those around her, and agreed to team up with her to help her get back at her bullies, thus creating a sustainable food source of pure misery.
image.png 【Paldean Yamask】 Second Pokemon, Maggie
Carmens second Pokemon. She came willingly to Carmen, as if familiar with her somehow.
image.png 【Shedinja】 Pet, Shinda-kun
Found as a husk after arriving at Indigo Academy, Carmen initially thought Shinda-kun was dead. Upon seeing it move, she took pity on the creature and has taken care of it since.

 Trivia?

  • Carmen was designed around the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, otherwise known as CMYK, a method of mixing colors. Her name is the Latin word for Song. Both of these things in tandem are meant to represent her role as the savior of art within Indigo Academy.
  • Parts of Carmens design, such as the shape of her mouth and her oversized sleeves, were inspired by Banette, the evolution of one of her Pokemon.
 Plot

Carmen is the leader of Team Beat, a gang at Indigo Academy in Kanto. Team Beat was formed by students of now defunct art clubs and classes after several of them had their funding diverted to trainer courses, which were already receiving more funding than the arts. Carmen, a guitar player for the school band before it was disbanded, rallied fellow band members and other art students to send a message to the schools administration. Her plan was to initiate unwarranted Pokemon battles on school ground as often as possible. This would disrupt classes and worsen student morale, which would grab the adults' attention in its own way, but moreover it would be a stark show of what a world with nothing but battling would be like. Carmen hopes that in showing Indigo Academy what life feels like without art and entertainment, she may one day convince them to bring back the arts at an official capacity.
