Deril wasn’t always an elf, he died as a human and was reborn in a dark elf body but has no memories of his human life. The dark elf body was also someone else’s body, they lived their life and died. Sometimes Deril gets flashbacks from memories of that other dark elf like childhood memories and stuff, but it makes little sense to him since these are not his own memories. He also got the muscle memory from the previous owner and it turned out he was a damn good archer.
