Biomechanical android recovered from a rusted capsule pod that drifted onto land from somewhere deep in the ocean. He is an amnesiac with no memory of his past or who (or what) created him, though from interactions with hospital staff seems to bear a deep fear of water. Nurses describe him as agreeable and humorous, almost compulsively so.

As Sloane spends more time on dry land, he begins to realize he cannot avoid being a person forever. The reasons for his creation, and what he is meant to do in the aftermath, begin to haunt him.
