ORIGINS

Micky was created a few years after his older sister Pria. He was not funded by the Social Experiment, nor was his creation technically approved by the government. He was funded and built as a passion project by his father, Cy, who wanted a third kid. Unfortunately, his software ended up with an unknown error that caused him not to be able to talk.

Shortly after being activated, Micky caught the attention of the government officials in charge of the Social Experiment. They feared that allowing an android with such a software error to exist would sabotage the already controversial experiment. The officials sent in a specialized team behind Cy’s back to deactivate Micky by all means necessary. They would have succeeded too if it weren’t for Cy coming home from work early. This is, unfortunately, one of Micky’s earliest memories.

When Micky was first activated he couldn’t speak at all. Much to his family’s dismay, he turned to throwing tantrums to get what he wanted. Cy tried to teach him basic signs but Micky didn’t care for them much. One day while out perusing an art show with his family he came upon a very squishy stuffed cat made by a local artist. He begged his father for it, refusing to leave without it. It had an almost supernatural calming effect on him and helped with his behavior as he went through primary school. He made a habit of bringing it everywhere, which followed him later into his life. He named the cat Fluff (which was also his first word) and dubbed it his best friend. Cy didn’t really think the isolation was healthy but Micky seemed happy. Cy admits that he had some selfish motives in keeping Micky isolated as Micky tended to attack other kids.

YOUNG LIFE

Micky lives outside the big city of Justix in a historic manor his dad bought after his company’s success. He lives with his dad, older brother, and older sister. Cy’s assistant Ronnie also lives on the property in a small guest house. Micky goes to the city's secondary school and is (barely) a B student there. He gets into trouble with the school often for getting into fights with other students.

When Micky was about 10, he became obsessed with a punk band and developed a huge crush on the drummer. He forced himself to learn to play drums so he could be like his idol. Even after his celebrity crush faded, he continued to pursue the drums. He enjoys banging away as a stress reliever and a form of self-expression.

About halfway through his first year of secondary school, Micky slowly began to realize he was falling in love with Echo. Although it was never personal, he suddenly felt remorse for every time he’d bullied Echo while they were growing up. Eventually, after weeks of stressing and talking to Pria about it, Micky finally confessed to Echo. Echo was a little wary at first but gave him a chance anyway. It wasn’t long before the two were inseparable.

Micky still struggles with communication. His verbal input is perfectly functional, but his output is still very lacking. He has good pronunciation but his vocabulary is very limited. He has to rely on certain words and phrases or verbatim memorization to communicate. He likes singing when he remembers all the words because it makes him feel a sense of normalcy. Cy wants to get him help but since he is an android he cannot receive therapy of any kind.

ADULTHOOD

Micky marries Echo.
