Ume Liu

Ume has a striking and unique appearance, making her stand out in any crowd. She possesses a peachy tinted complexion that complements her overall look. She has lazy eyes that are in a shade of faded green and perfectly shaped eyebrows, which enhances her already alluring features. Ume's most distinctive feature is her long dark brown hair styled in a 'peekaboo' dyed hairstyle, which is coloured in a captivating blonde; a traditional colour that all the members of the Liu Family clan dye their hair in. She wears her hair tied up into two separate sections with the longer part of her fringes flowing down on either side of her face and framing it, showcasing her window parting. Ume places a smoking pipe that has a red ornamented tassel tied to it, in the high bun that is tied at the left side of her sectioned hair. She also wears a pair of elegant dangling earrings that have a unique design. Unbeknownst to others, Ume has a dragon tattoo that winds its way across her back and extends around to her left arm.

As part of her jujutsu sorcerer attire, Ume wears a silver dragon patterned white silk cheongsam with silver fastener buttons and black piping, that elegantly drapes all the way to just above her ankles which exudes sophistication and grace. Over her cheongsam, she layers her outfit with a cropped dark overcoat. To complete her outfit, Ume dons thigh-high black leggings held securely in place with garter straps. Her footwear are eye-catching red bottom designer heels that not only gives off an extravagant vibe to her look but also a sense of boldness to her style. Ume's appearance always has a blend of traditional Chinese styling and modernity, having a passion to appreciate her Chinese descent.

Ume is a character with a complex personality that's a blend of self-interest, pride, and family loyalty. At first glance, she might come across as someone who doesn’t exert much effort or is indifferent, but beneath her laidback exterior lies a shrewd and calculating individual.

Ume's speech is described as alluring and sometimes flirtatious, adding to her enigmatic charm. Her personality can be seen as feministic, believing that women part of the jujutsu world are more than deserving to have as much credibility towards their abilities and contribution just as the men have, in contrast to the misogynistic mentality of most of the men of the Zen’in clan. Ume is also someone who favours in prioritising materialistic value over sentimental or emotional attachments. She takes immense pride in her family's lineage of powerful sorcerers, and this heritage tends to lead her to unintentionally look down on those she considers of ‘lesser value’ than her or her family. She is quick in making mocking remarks when others fail to perform up to her expectations, but her threats are only ever harsh words which never escalates into physical actions.

One of Ume's defining characteristics is her materialistic nature as seen with her being unapologetically motivated by self-benefit and money, often refusing to invest her time and energy into anything that doesn't promise a lucrative return. To her claims, such endeavours would be a waste of her valuable time and energy. Some may mistake this behaviour of hers for laziness, but in truth, Ume simply refuses to exert effort when the outcome doesn't directly benefit her. As such, her interactions with others are also generally motivated by potential self benefits.

In contrast to that, she is very caring and loving towards her cousins, whom she treasures dearly and holds at high importance, showing genuine care and love when it comes to them. Growing up as the eldest amongst them, she has a strong sense of responsibility toward the sisters from having to look after and take care of them. However, with those outside her close circle of friends and family, Ume maintains an air of nonchalance. She treats them with neutrality, devoid of the overly extensive kindness and favouritism she shamelessly displays only towards the ones she cares about. She also appears more open towards her cousins and her best friend Mei Mei, displaying her personality in more depth compared to that of what she would show others.

In moments of intense frustration or unfavourable situations, Ume's usually composed demeanour gives way to a more aggressive side of her personality. She is shown to exhibit visible rage, using discourteous language and can even go as far as to cursing vilely, a stark contrast to her typical polite mannerisms.
