" If I weren't so tired all the time, I could get so much done in a day. It's not even lunchtime yet. "
Alice appears as a calm and reserved young teenager. She's intelligent, has a rational mind, and easily analyzes situations and strategies. She's confident without being arrogant, often praised by her teachers and the adults around her for it, but is also impatient to get things done and annoyed by her chronic illness that keeps her bed-ridden most of the time. She's strives for perfectionism in all she does, dedicating hours into tasks once she puts her mind to it.
Her illness causes her to be lethargic and tired most of the time, and she rarely has the energy to do many tasks during the day, which adds on to her own frustrations, both at her situation and at herself. Unfortunately she knows how hard everyone around her is working to try and cure her illness, so she keeps these frustrations to herself, letting them build up and boil over instead of voicing them out loud.
Alice dreams of everything she might be able to do if she weren't riddled with illness, and is quite curious of the world outside of Thia. She does her best to come off as a model teenager, and is quite excited about being able to attend classes at Bluebell! She's hopeful that the different environment and country air really will do some good for her health.
Autumnrose Toy Shop
The Autumnrose Toy Shop is a small store located in the shopping districts of Thia, within walking distance of some of the schools in the area. It's run by Vivianne Autumnrose, who opened the shop after she graduated from the Academy of Magic in Likovia. Locals can often find Grandma V, as she's known, bustling around the shop, making sure everything is in order and designing new plushies to add to the store's growing catalogue.
As the years have passed, Grandma V's son and his wife have taken over most of the day-to-day business affairs of the business, allowing her to focus on new designs and innovation. Her other child often pops in to help as well, though she spends most of her time on her studies as a mage.
Alice
Alice Autumnrose was born and raised in the Autumnrose Toy Shop. As a toddler, she could often be found playing with the toys on display, and by the age of five she had memorized everything in the catalogue and was suggesting new ones to add. Her favorite toys seemed to be the ones related to adventure stories -- princesses and knights and dragons and witches. She was the type who could happily chat for hours on end, though she tired easily from doing even a few tasks around the shop. Otherwise, she was a healthy child.
Soon after she entered into elementary school, Alice's health took a downturn. She caught colds easily, her fevers came and went, and her coughs always took longer than normal to go away. She continued to tire easily, but that tiredness led to dizziness and fatigue, no matter how much she rested and slept. She became quieter, more reserved, lethargy pulling at her.
The family began to see various doctors and health practitioners to figure out what the problem was, and Alice began to take what felt like an endless stream of pills and tonics. Just as one symptom seemed to go away, another would appear. As the years went on, Alice's grandmother took over caretaker duties, allowing her parents to focus on running the shop. Alice herself was more often bedridden with illness than not, whether it was a fever, aching joints, or simply lethargy. Unable to keep up with the regular school curriculum, her family invited a tutor instead.
As a young child, Alice didn't quite understand what was going on. She let out her frustrations a few times, wanting to go out and play but being too tired to do so -- but as she grew older, she began to see the differences between herself and most kids her age, could see the subtle changes in expression on the adults faces whenever anything new happened. Some days, she felt perfectly fine, and other days, she barely had the strength to sit up in bed. Her symptoms came and went, like waves on a shore, and Alice simply struggled to not get dragged into the deep.
Adults praised her for being calm and collected, but her parents worried that she was simply too tired to be anything else. Her tutors praised her for her analytical mind and quick wits -- Alice thought that was strange. She wasn't out playing like other kids her age, and knew the insides of hospital rooms like the back of her hand. Of course she had more time to study and learn, if she wasn't doing anything else.
The more she learned of the world around her, the more she wanted to see it all -- but if illness was going to keep her bedridden half the time, how was she going to walk the distance to the other side of the city, let alone travel to the far off kingdoms across the seas.
She didn't complain out loud, though. One time, she'd let out her frustrations on them, only to look up and see the hurt in her family's faces, and she had realized how hard they'd been working to keep her healthy. It wasn't her parents' faults that she was like this. It wasn't her own fault, either. She was simply...unlucky, maybe. Or unfavored by the gods.
Alice smiled, instead, and kept her frustrations inside. There were things to be happy about still, like the flowers from acquaintances that filled a never-empty vase in her room, or the letters she'd gotten from her school when they'd learned she wouldn't be able to attend class, or the many books her family had gotten from traveling merchants. If she got up early enough, she could watch the sunrise through her window. Wildflowers bloom in the fields outside of Thia, and her grandmother had promised to take her there when her fever broke....
When Alice was 12, her family heard of the reopening of Bluebell Valley. Initially unconcerned by the news, they reconsidered when they heard of its success. Maybe what Alice needed was a change in environment -- she'd been surrounded by the lush trees of Thia and the plush cloth of the toy shop her entire life. Maybe a change of pace was needed to lessen the symptoms and make a full recovery. And besides, the family supposedly had some distant relatives there. Wasn't it better to go somewhere where they'd have some support...?
Alice herself is excited to travel -- she would finally get to see a piece of the world outside of Thia. She'd heard of humans and hybrids, but hadn't seen many of them before her health deteriorated -- and it sounded like Bluebell would have all sorts of people there. What were societies like in other countries? What sorts of plants grow there, what fashions do they like? And maybe she'd even get to attend...actual school again?
Accompanied by her grandmother, Alice has applied for the school in Bluebell. She's hopeful that the different environment and country air really will do some good for her health.
...Once she recovers from the long journey. Who knew traveling could be so tiring? ( ̄Д ̄)
Grandma V
Known as Grandma V to the locals back home in Thia, she's warm and friendly to all who pass through the doors of her shop. She's been taking care of Alice since she was young, and Alice adores her in return. Seeing as it's a family-run store, Alice has grown up in Grandma V's toy shop and knows about all of the toys being sold inside of it. Grandma V uses magic to enhance some of the toys, just to let each toy shine by itself.
Grandma V has left the shop to Alice's parents and has accompanied Alice to Bluebell to help take care of her. She's still designing toys in the meantime, and sends prototypes and blueprints back to the shop for her parents to add to the shop's catalogue.

?? Autumnrose
Alice's father. He's currently running the Autumnrose Toy Shop along with his wife. He chose to take an apprenticeship with a local toymaker instead of attending the Likovia Academy of Magic like his mother had. He frets over his daughter's health when he isn't focused on making toys, and converses often with other toymakers to add more wares to the shop.

?? Autumnrose
Alice's mother. She's currently running the Autumnrose Toy Shop along with her husband. She takes care of the operational side of things, making sure the inventory is stocked and the accounting books are in order. She spends a lot of time conversing with social groups, looking for possible leads on her daughter's illness.

TRIVIA
- Playlist
- Has an unidentified chronic illness. I've based her symptoms on lupus, which is a chronic illness with no current cure, but that has treatments that can ease the symptoms
- She has an interest in learning fencing/swordfighting, but she's always been advised against strenuous exercise. Someday....
- Likes hearing about adventurers, real or fictional. They're her favorite kinds of stories
- Hasn't thought too much about her sexuality. Potentially something to explore in the future!
- Thinks flowers look better growing wild in a field or garden than cut and in a vase. She's gotten enough get-well packages and bouquets to last her a lifetime!
- Her favorite foods are orange marmalade and apple pie (not necessarily together!)
- Follows her grandmother around on errands a lot, but she tends to tire out and end up sitting on a park bench somewhere. Sometimes she even takes an accidental nap there. Zzzz.
- Whenever there's a birthday in the family, the toy shop celebrates with a sale on the person's choice of toy
- Still in the stage of crushing on fictional characters / celebrities more than people her own age
Bluebell Valley
The great Valley of BlueBell. A once adored location by all who enjoyed the coast line and the open air. It was a land rich in nature and rumored to be the home of a goddess.
Oh how lively were the small streets of the town, filled with chatter and tourists.
Alas, as the empires and kingdoms grew, BlueBell became forgotten by the citizens. Those who sought greater things set off to greater cities, leaving behind a plot of land who used to stand above all.
BlueBell's population slowly diminished. Businesses became ruined, livelihoods threatened. A great deal of citizens left one by one, emptying the town. Those who stayed struggled to get by, but remained loyal to their hometown.
Eventually, BlueBell would be threatened by nearby countries. Unless improvement presented itself, the town would be sold off and destroyed by one of the nearby kingdoms.
Hopeless and chagrined, the town fabricated one last plan in hopes of saving their beloved town.
Mundane Abilities
Plush Toy Connoisseur :: Having grown up in a toy shop, Alice knows a good plush toy from a bad one, whether it's the craftsmanship or the material quality. (But even then, she'd much prefer someone to make their own, no matter how poorly it comes out, if they were to gift to her. She has enough well-made toys from stores to last her a lifetime.)
Sewing :: Alice learned how to sew when she was younger, but her hands often shake too much to hand-sew anything. She knows the basics though!
Budding Tactician :: She has a good mind for quickly analyzing situations and working out plans of action.
Magical Abilities
Untrained Magic :: While Alice's grandmother and aunt are both trained mages, Alice herself isn't trained in it. She has potential though.
