About

Damien's early childhood consisted primarily of him getting into trouble and doing things he shouldn't have. He wasn't necessarily a troubled child, he simply wanted his absent mother's attention. It wasn't until his mother divorced his father when he was 14, that he started to really act out though. He ditched school, got into fights, and stole anything and everything he could get his hands on. When he was eventually asked who he wanted to live with, he chose his father because his relationship with his mother was otherwise nonexistant.

Subheader

When he was 15, Damien met Douglas. The two instantly hit it off and became fast friends. But because Damien grew attachment issues, courtesy of his mother, he tended to be a bit clingy with the older male. When Damien was 16, he then met Lainey and quickly grew infatuated with her. Lainey had also met Douglas though, and this bothered Damien to the extent of being willing to hurt Douglas to keep Lainey to himself. This, paired with the strain that was already on their friendship, ultimately caused Douglas to cut all contact with Damien. Eventually Lainey found out what Damien did (along with other things), and their friendship changed too.

Subheader

After Lainey discovered all the things Damien had done in an attempt to keep her to himself, she came clean about knowing about his feelings for her, and that tore them apart even more. It was then that Damien and Eloise grew closer, however. Eloise, seeing a boy that couldn't form healthy attachments, promised him she'd stay by his side. With her help, Damien matured and ended up apologizing to Lainey and Douglas, the people he had hurt the most. Their friendships weren't the same, but they all grew as people because of it. Damien and Eloise got together quickly afterward..

Despite knowing her the least out of all his friends, Damien cares very much for her. She's everything Damien isn't, and she symbolizes all the good things Damien feels he isn't. She listened to him when he couldn't speak, and has changed him for the better. Damien won't ever give her up.

Character [ best friend ]

Lainey was his best friend before she was his first love, and the transition from one to the other was a very difficult and new one for Damien. She was his first friend after Douglas, first love, and first heartbreak. Now though, they're best friends again--with no unwanted feelings between them.

Character [ ex-best friend ]

Douglas was the very first friend Damien ever kept. He was there before Lainey and was the first person he ever reluctantly cared for. But in an effort to get Lainey to like him, Damien hurt Douglas, which ended their friendship. They're not what they used to be.
