Though he is the prince of a wealthy nation, he isn't well respected among his peers because he was simply adopted by his mothers and therefore has no royal blood. Believing he isn't being given what he deserves, he sets out to prove himself by gathering treasures from across the lands and bringing them back to his country.

On the surface he seems generally polite and casually confident, but in reality he's snobbish, bitter, and deeply self-conscious.
