Xaeris grew up in a small village populated by mostly humans. He spend his childhood being bullied by the human kids because he was different. The village wasn't very tiefling-friendly so by the time he was old enough, he left and never looked back. He went on a search to find a place where tieflings can live in peace. His plans of course got changed eventually by being kidnapped by the Mind Flayers. He realized finding a home wasn't a top priority anymore.
Xae is a somewhat deadpan guy, not really expressing emotions unless with someone he trusts. He's very sweet and protective, especially of other tieflings, he'd easily place himself between another one of his kind and danger. He's not exactly good with animals but he tries to be. He's amazing with kids as long as they're tieflings, other kids he struggles to understand.
He tries really hard to be charming but he's bad at flirting and very inexperienced. He's not easily flustered though, just gets embarrassed of himself if anything.
Xae's also kind of oblivious to what's happening around him sometimes even though he's very observant??? He's very gullible, struggles to say no even when he knows he should. This ends up with him making promises he can't keep and/or doing quests for people who don't deserve his help. He's just very easily manipulated but he's also aware of it.
Persuasion is his favorite method of fuckery<3
He dislikes devils/demons A LOT, mostly due to always being called one. He hated being associated with them. He prefers to stay away from them unless it's necessary. BUT he has friendly rivalry with Raphael.
He has a hard time dealing with trauma. He doesn't like violence so watching others die/having to kill messes with his head a lot. If things go bad he blames himself and tries to figure out what he did wrong.
Note: Very much in love with Astarion<3 Acts less guarded around him and feels comfortable to just be a little gremlin around him. Astarion helps him deal with the trauma and helps him realize he did all he could when things go bad. Astarion also lets Xae know when he's being manipulated whenever Xae doesn't catch onto it himself.
