Profile

Personality: intelligent, witty, distrusting, and rude

Untrustworthy of humans, a hatred for them has wedged itself in his heart because of the neglect and abuse he has suffered over his lifetime. Due to an accident of his previous owner, he was to be sold but because of his rugged condition and mean temper no one would so much as give him a second glance and walk the other way. One man was willing to take him for slaughter and Baem'themar was willing to accept his fate when a young woman overheard the arrangment between two men gambling with his life. Refusing to let the man outbid her, she raised the price higher than he was willing to go for 'dog food' and walked off. With his speckling, Baem'themar could understand the human language fully. The female human was kind and did not smell like a sweaty, dirty man like he was used to, and although he should of been grateful that she saved his life, he continued his behavior like she was no different than the rest. He became open-minded to her quickly, voicing his opinions bluntly and was mostly hateful towards her. She allowed him to choose his own name and he happily chose the name he was given at birth which, not to his surprise, was too much for her to pronounce. He gave her permission to give him a nickname but only if he liked it and thus she began calling him Bao or Bailey. He feels no obligation to her but as time passed, he began to tolerate her, but still keeping his sour attitude and dry sense of humor. He made it clear that he does not like the bit when he nearly took one of her fingers and was surprised when she went out of her way to get a bridle with no bit instead. However, the saddle was another issue. He wanted no riders. Ever. She was also stubborn but did not press the issue further. As she went around the island, collecting info of horses and gathering notes about them, Bao decided to help her further by using his powers to learn deeper knowledge about them such as their names. Although this seems like a nice thing for him to do, he only did this to help himself because he became impatiant in waiting around as she studied one horse after another. However, he quickly learned how dangerous this could be with some not-so-friendly Padros. Although he calls her foolish, he respects her on some level of her bravery for studying horses in the wild. Together they travel the island and has developed an "There's only one person who is allowed to pick on her and that person is me!" relationship with her, but he has not forgotten the hardships of his past still shows disgust towards humans, still claiming that they are filthy, greedy things.
