Hermostunut

Hermostunuts, more commonly called Stunuts, are critters no bigger than a bobcat. These creatures inhabit lands predominantly inhabited by mountain trolls. As a consequence, their bodies have evolved to grow stone spikes and masks in a fruitless attempt to make them less appealing to their primary predators. Their meat, possessing a dusty and crunchy texture is what truly serves as the primary deterrent to other creatures in the wild.

The wildlife's disinterest in their meat doesn't do much to calm their anxious nature, however. Stunuts carry their young on their sides as an extra set of defense using the babies' spikes.
