KAEDE / Sara Enomoto
Overview
A top champion and coordinator who has held the hearts of her region captive for over a decade. She adores her fans and sometimes holds free events to raise money or awareness for people and pokemon. She is more than the sum of her good deeds, though -- as she stands as the final obstacle to championhood for some. Don't underestimate her because of her looks, or you may end up back where you started.
Though she's one of the region's strongest trainers, she doesn't outwardly seem the type to strategize. She may rely on her instincts in the midst of battle, but her gut is rarely off, and she's planned for when it is. You don't make it this far without a backup! She's more of a widely renowned public figure than she is a trainer, but she hasn't forgotten her roots.
Everyone tends to ask me what it's like to be me, and my only answer is...I don't know!! I'm still figuring that part out myself. There's only one thing I'm sure of: I'm beyond thankful for all the people who've helped me to get to where I am now~♪ Thank you for your support!

Kaede often hums to punctuate her sentences, and additionally cannot seem to keep still when she's talking; she can even be a bit bumbling and klutzy. Her stage and battle demenaor are the exact opposite of this -- composed and emoting exactly what the scenario calls for. She's no top champion for nothing!
Seemingly earnest and emotional, Kaede is rather easy to speak with. She's personable, charismatic, and endlessly excited. Almost always polite...in public. To a select few individuals, she can have quite a sharp edge. There's a side to KAEDE the public isn't wholly aware of.
There is no limit to the love Kaede will show her closest family and friends, and no lengths to which she won't go for most of them. She is someone who lives for her connections and can't imagine a world without them. Everything she's done, it's been for them. Very physically, verbally, and overall affectionate.

KAEDE has been coordinating and battling since she was a child, trained from a young age to reach the top. Though she owes a large part of her career to nepotism, her personal identity has remained a mystery to the public at large, and was only known within close circles for a large portion of her career. Though she gained her fame as a coordinator first, battling was never second place to her. Growing up with and caring for pokemon has always been beyond rewarding, and she's been very forward with how beneficial it's been for her throughout her career.
Already a beloved public figure, Kaede turned 18 under the watchful eye of her fans, and began using her fame to accrue acclaim as a pokemon battler as well. She began touring internationally as a coordinator shortly after, visiting other circuits to learn their techniques and styles to improve her skill. She's become an internationally renowned figure in the field, largely due to her humble demeanor as a student and eager willingness to learn in her early years.
Championship Ascension
- One of the region's longest-serving top champions.
- Unusually grass-type focused, but with a team sporting spread out type coverage.
- Takes her duty seriously, even with her outstanding fame. Every challenger deserves her respect and full effort as champion regardless of her status.
Kaede was 22 years of age when she reached the champion rank in her home region. After a hard-fought and widely broadcast league challenge, she became a pokemon battling champion, and served as a top champion for a brief six months after ascending to the position. Her gym, elite, and champion battles were televised, and years afterwards, a documentary was released detailing her whole journey as well as the six months she initially spent as a top champion. Many trainers since have cited her as their inspiration, and she ushered a whole new generation into pokemon training with her story.
After her time as a top champion, she announced she would be temporarily stepping down to travel internationally again to take on various regions' league challenges on top of her own, much like she had as a coordinator before. As she began her sweep through the world's gyms, her international acclaim and badge count grew beyond what many thought possible for her -- and no one quite knew when she would stop. Some theorized she was attempting to overtake Yui, one of the few who could rival Kaede's status, prowess, and reputation in her respective fields, but Kaede herself has never commented on this matter.
All in all, she spent seven years traveling to and from her home region to conquer various pokemon leagues, though she never did completley outperform her rival. She's a widely known celebrity with a reach preceeding her, and today, is still an iconic figure in the leagues of the many regions she's visited.
Homecoming

- Upon retiring from the international league and taking up a permanent position as top champion, she revealed her true identity as Sara Enomoto.

Now a top champion her home region for nearly a decade, Kaede has touched the hearts of many close and far. Though her fans were saddened to see her stepping into a position of lower activity, they welcomed her home with open arms. Today, she still receives aspiring challengers at the hall of champions, as well as hosting various coordination events to grow the art's reach and reputation. She may not be as active in the public eye as she used to be, but she'll always be in the thoughts of those she's managed to inspire.
Many speculate about Kaede's return to the international league as she nears her fortieth birthday, but when asked herself, she always something along the lines of: "Huh? You want to get rid of me that badly...? Just kidding! Ah, but I think I'd be better off getting married sooner than becoming a world traveler again. Is there anyone out there willing to buy me a wedding ring~?"

Notable Battles
Shion Kudo
Shion Kudo was the first challenger to ever beat Kaede to ascend to champion rank. A long, drawn out, and intense battle, Kaede's since recounted the match as being 'reinvigorating after a year or so of relative calm.' Kudo's intensive preparation for the battle made it a spectacle to all those lucky enough to witness it.
Esme Safavi
While not Kaede's longest, most intense, or most notable battle, it was a well-earned victory on Esme's part. It was a close match, but Kaede's composure held strong even as she inched toward defeat. When the dust settled, she accepted her defeat gracefully and welcomed the youngest challenger she'd ever yielded to into the ranks of champion.
Shinra Kizahashi
Though there was some fuss about the matter, Shinra Kizahashi is the first challenger to ever voluntarily call for a disqualification against Kaede. The battle had no time to begin or end, and was otherwise unremarkable, except for curiosity surrounding the challenger's reasons. Some say it was because he was intimidated by her strength, though no one knows for sure. A few days later, he challenged a separate top champion and claimed victory in the battle.
What isn't there to say about Kaede and Yui? Or Sara Enomoto and Shun Furukawa? The two have shared the same stages throughout their entire lives, and yet still manage to never be on the same page. A fog of miscommunication seems to follow them everywhere they go, and yet-...and yet, Kaede can't bring herself to stop caring about Yui. Sara can't stop herself from loving Shun. So much has separated them throughout the years, she can't help but wish for them to simply be together again.
Though they were once somewhat (onesidedly) rivals when they were young, that relationship has morphed somewhat since their teenage years. Kaede is still nearly violently jealous of Shun, but more horribly in love than ever. Distance has made her heart fonder than she knew it could be -- and even if it proves to be obsession, she won't back down. She will find her.
Her dearest younger brother. The most precious individual to her on this earth; she would do anything for him. The two share a kinship and trust she's done her best to cultivate as each other's only true family. Though she couldn't publicly live her life as his older sister for a large portion of both of their lives, she has made an effort to be as good as she possibly can to him since she revealed her identity. She loves him more than anything else, and will assure his happiness in any way she can if it's the last thing she possibly does.
Adores her sweet, cute little brother regardless of his deeds. She may be his biggest woobifier, but she's also his staunchest defender.
Her adorable junior. Keiko grew up looking up to her -- and Kaede has attempted to be a good role model for her. She still reminisces about the times were Keiko was a young, impressionable child who pleaded for headpats from her, but not for too long at once. Keiko gets far too embarrassed by such anecdotes now. Friends even in unfortunate circumstances.
