Asora Kao. Yamikage's longest living shogun. Though with all his glory came hardships, many find his story to be fancisnating in how outlandish it is. how could this all happen to one man? However, to be completely honest, to live for so long. You'd expect something to happen.

INTRODUCTION. 生きたいが死ねと言われ 死にたいが生きろと言われ

Yamikage; the place where youkais and immortal beings alike thrive.It’s only natural that the great shogun Asora Kao would live a long life as well. Serving the country through almost half of his lifetime before the inevitable would happen.

Throughout Asora’s life, he’s lost many lives and has been dragged through the worst of situations. Yet no matter what, he tries to get up. He tries to live through his monotone everyday life as more and more, It feels as if he’s just living to live. Serving to serve. Working to work. But despite his exhaustion, his fatigue of this life he’s built up for himself. No matter how hard he tries, or everybody else tries, that heart of his just won’t stop.

Feeling forced to continue his work as the shogun, he tries his hardest to please his people and make his country great once again, but to no avail. With every tragedy that strikes, every incident that is mismanaged, every mistake that is made, the youkai within Yamikage lose faith and hope slowly and slowly as Asora’s mental and physical health decay overtime. Making Asora realise the suffocating enviroment and life he’s built up for himself. But with his desire to make this country great once again, he continues, he doesn’t stop. He can’t stop.

His necessity for perfection, his strong beliefs and commitment pushes him to continue. Slowly pushing everyone away as well as losing himself in the bigger pictures. In this claustrophobic environment, he tries his best to breath with what little air is left for himself.

With his desire to once again, feel loved, also keeping him barley alive.

ARC 1. AWAKEN IN A DREAM LAND.

ARC 1. BEGINNING. そろそろ起きたらどう Welcome to the メルティランド (covers prolouge - chapter 4)

Though from the perspective of the young Saki, she introduces Asora to the land of a million dreams. Where not another soul or two exist. 

Though she’s forever waiting for Asora to arrive, when he does. Her hand instantly reaches out. Ready to help Asora cope with what trauma that has been buried in the depths of his consciousness.

‘Welcome to the land of a million dreams’ she would finally say. Though the place looks as tranquil and peace as ever. The shooting stars and the dark soil, would implie Asora’s inevitable future. With each memory they will unfold, Asora’s desires and thoughts leak out. Each question that Asora once held will be answered and new ones will bloom.

Though as of right now, all Saki needs to do is comfort him as she is aware of what is waiting for Asora, that terrible fate upsets her. ‘Have you lost faith in the starry night yet?’ She would ask in worry, though Asora doesn’t get it, he will eventually.

Though in her last attempt to warn him, she grabs his hand. Praying that maybe, without breaking the laws. She can help him in more than one way. Saki tells him to not leave her behind. Not only for her sake, but for his as well. For he might truly lose himself then.

Asora won’t get it now, maybe not even in 100 years. “Only time will tell” is what Saki would say.

ARC 1. ~~mother~~ さめないゆめをみたくはないかい あなたのためだけのえほんがあるよ

Asora dives deeper in this mirage. Finally meeting ‘Mother’, someone whose mouth is always spitting with white lies. She desperately tries to keep Asora safe by keeping him away from the ticking time bomb that is the truth. His future. Only they know what Asora’s up against in the future. And that future is one that she cannot bear to see. Despite only being an illusion she reflects her ideals perfectly…like a mirror.

She promises Asora that everything will be okay, but knows that she might not be able to see the next day. She promises Asora of a bright future and fills his heads up with fantasies of a ‘normal’ life, but she knows that none of that will come true. These are nothing but wishful thinking of what truly is next to come.

Despite the truth slowly leaking out. In Mothers’ eyes, the ‘duty’ of a mother comes first.

‘Here’s a picture book just for you’ Mother would say. ‘In this dream you can fly and touch the stars… …In this dream you can cast wonderful spells and explore the world.’ Yet of course, this is all just part of her big white lie that is ‘everything will be okay’. She knew deep down that Asora might not even be able to survive to see the rising sun.

Each thought process, ideal and lie…

…‘Mother’ reflects her perfectly.

For she is different from the other spirits among the conscious, connected to her trauma and experiences. She was nothing but 2 ‘beings’ melted together.

‘Would you mind if I stayed a good-for-nothing?’ Mother would ask herself knowing that she might not even be able to help Asora in the end no matter how much she tells him. A part of her head is still her. Living through those moments and experiences over and over.

‘You’d like to know what happens next? Wouldn’t you?’ she says, each puzzle piece dangled over his head. ‘Mother’ knows she has a job to do, yet she is reluctant to comply with every step she takes towards Asora. Though Asora’s aggressive nature is overbearing.

‘Please turn to the next page of this picture book no one has ever seen’ finally realising that no matter how hard she tries, she cannot shield Asora away from the truth forever. Split into the ‘2-faced lover’ she is. Things turn desperate and the mirror starts to crack.

‘You don’t want to know what happens at the end of the dream-‘ Another futile warning. A desperate attempt to keep Asora away. “Even deep within the consciousness, ‘Mother’ still wants to protect her own kindred. I guess it’s only natural no?” Through blurred out words, she skips a couple chapters before the memory begins to break down.
