Summary

Bitter tends to be, well, bitter. She is a stubborn, sour she-cat who is very nit-picky to everyone but a select few. She likes to get things done with efficiency and any cat who messes with that efficiency, she instantly dislikes. She tends to have an edge to her, always keeping her inner monologue sour and acidic, drowning out the thoughts that she considers weak. She doesn’t like other cats bossing her around and usually responds negatively to any who do. She has a soft die to her, however, always more subdued around those select few she cares deeply about.

Appearance

Allegiance Description - A grey she-cat with dual colored eyes

Bitter is a lighter grey she with darker grey muzzle. She has very light grey ear tips/tufts and carries rosettes of a darker grey with a more mild dark grey and the same darker grey for her face spots. Her paw tips are the same color of her ear tips and her underbelly has a white-grey look to it. Her tail is checkered with the same darker grey from her markings and her coat color.

History & Family

  • Bitter was born to Porcupine as a result of a forbidden relationship with her father, NightShadow. She was, and still is, hateful for what her father had done. She grew up only knowing how to hate someone. Love never filled her mother’s eyes, even after she was sent to live in Shadowclan. From then on, she was forced into training to become a warrior to a clan that wasn’t even hers. Her father was found dead one morning when Bitter was 6 moons, still carrying the scent of her mother on his pelt. She can only wonder what caused the she who sired her to have murdered her beloved mate. When she joined the clans, the only cat who took to her malice dripped words was FernPaw, a bubbly, energetic apprentice. Though stubborn at first, Bitter didn't have the energy to fight it. Fern was the first. Eventually, she came around to a new cat, OwlPaw. She had been sent to his den after an aggravated squirrel attack, coming to camp with thin slices down her face. She warmed up pretty quick to the jumpy tom, finding his soft, quiet nature easily likable. From there, she gained a marigold, one of many to come from the brown-grey tom that made her heart thrum an extra beat. Just when she thought everything was ok, She encountered a cat that she could only describe as her nemesis, HickoryPaw. He was a WindClan priss, thinking he was all that. He eventually, after some very harsh words from Bitter, attacked the grey she, leaving her scared and weak. She trailed home, a stream of scarlet following suit. She was found that day by OwlPaw and FernPaw, both of them cleaning her pelt and bandaging her up. OtterSkull, another ShadowClan warrior, saw the three and had helped Fern and Owl get Bitter back to camp. A few days later, against JayFlight's knowledge, Bitter left the healer's den, ending up at the weepingleaf tree. She scaled it, hoping to have some alone time but was pleasantly surprised when Owl had shown himself. She didn't know what came over her, but she leapt down, the conversation that followed she would not repeat. She was just a little weak, tears might have stained her cheeks. But in the end, Owl had said that he wanted her safe, wanted her to be protected.. He had liked her.. It sent frogs leaping around her stomach. She agreed, however not knowing love, she wanted him to teach her. The two of them walked tail in tail back to camp, the light of the evening sun gracing their pelts. That morning, Fern had noticed her oddly good mood, questioning her about it. She eventually cracked, spilling to her friend about what the marigold tom had told her. It felt like spilling a secret that she wished to hold onto selfishly for a bit longer, but it felt good to gush about her tom like that to another cat who would listen. A few days passed before she saw him again, the tom shaking as he asked Fern, Bitter, and his brother Snap to come with him to the frog pond for some hunting. She was extra tired that day, but agreed. When they got there, Bitter lingered behind, content to watch as Fern and Owl got their pelts slick with mud until Fern came bounding up, pushing her to go down to her marigold tom. She was... scared. She didn't know if things were going to be awkward between the two, she didn't want that, she wanted it to be the same, but with something extra added. She eventually got spooked by a fallen branch, finding herself, against her will, in the muddied water. After her encounter with the frog pond, Bitter was roaming about the territory, close to the twoleg paths when she was gripped by fear. Porcupine, her mother that despised her, was there. As soon as the despicable cat saw her daughter, she lunged, gripping her scruff until it caused blood to flow freely down her neck. Bitter tried to put up a fight, but Porcupine's angry words wounded her. She had a terrible bite wound to her scruff and leg, and was beaten nearly until death. Only when OwlScreech showed up was she able to regain some freedom left. She stood over her mother's body, breaking her neck. She had killed her mother, a revenge she wished she never had done. Bitter was then taken straight to RainPuddle's den, barely conscious. A few days after her battle, Owl came up to her in the middle of an episode. She calls her times when she looks at her paws and only sees blood her episodes. Owl calmed her down and eventually introduced her to HibiscusMoon. She was a bit prickly at first, but it got worse as she saw Owl and Hibiscus touching tails. She wanted him gone, she disliked that he was close to Owl. She was rude through the whole interaction, making passive aggressive comments but stopped when Owl seemed down that she wasn't getting along with him. To make him feel better, Bitter held onto Hibiscus's tail. The tail touching sent the tom into a panic attack which Bitter instinctively went to her secret stash of things and brought different calming herbs to the tom. He ate them and then rushed off in a hurry. It was only the next day when Bitter was high in the weepingleaf tree when she heard a cat rustling at the bottom. It was HibiscusMoon. The scent of poisons filled the air and it intrigued Bitter to the point where she was leaning heavily on the branch. The limb of the tree eventually snapped, sending Bitter falling to the ground. In the process, reopened her scruff wound. She tried to play off the fall, intrigued in the poisons, however, Hibiscus soon noticed that she had blood dripping down her scruff. Despite himself, he applied a poultice to her scruff and laced cobwebs along the open wounds which almost sent Bitter reeling to get sick. They eventually talked things out, Hibiscus explaining that he can't touch other cats too well and Bitter spilled her heart out about Porcupine and everything that happened. When they were finally finished, Bitter and Hibiscus each had a slight pink to their ears as they raced back to camp. Finally, when a moment of silence rang through the air, she followed OwlScreech out of camp. She was just trailing behind him, curious yet worried about him. He seemed spacy and when she got close to the frog pond, the scent of blood filled her senses. She found Owl clawing his arm. Instinctively, Bitter rushed over, yanking his arm away just for him to bite down on it. Her mind vanished for a second, going to another place as she forced a stick into Owl's mouth, pinning him to the dry soil just above the frog pond. She yelled and yelled, hoping that it would get through to him. She wanted him to explain, and wanted to know what was going on. And he did, he explained the things that happened to him in his life in exchange for the story of hers. Eventually, she coaxed him up and to the healer's den for RainPuddle to take over. She just wished she had gotten there earlier.. While Owl was out, HibiscusMoon rolled into camp, his body covered in blood and open wounds. Panicked, Bitter was the first to rush forwards, snarling at any cat who came close. She would lash out, not caring if it was a clanmate she injured, she knew Hibiscus didn't like being touched by anyone, though he probably would rather it be her than anyone random. She gently lapped the blood from his pelt, taking the herbs that RainPuddle had brought for herself to help, though she scared her away, and dressed each and every cut. She was sure that Hibiscus would rather die than be touched by her, but at least it wasn't RainPuddle. Relief flooded Bitter when Hibiscus awoke a few days later. She wanted nothing more than to sleep, but she forced herself up, giving him water, prey, and getting Owl to come say hi. She had been on and off drifting to sleep through the past night, having forced herself to stay awake until Hibiscus was awake, so now that he was up and alive, she could rest. When Owl had been tackled by Hibiscus, Bitter simply collapsed on both of them, her eyelids drifting down her green hues. Before she went fully asleep, she confessed that she also loved Hibiscus, and that she was sorry Owl. That same night Bitter had a fit in the warriors den. Everything that had been building and building finally let loose. She was having a manic episode, moss torn and unusable from all the nests, blood streaked the walls, She screamed, cried, taking all of her pent up anger and emotions out of the nests. The next morning she was forced to pick new moss, however, the slick warmth to her pelt forced her to nearly collapse. The stress must have built up to a breaking point causing Bitter to get sick. She was nearly to the moss rocks when she ran into a she-cat named Foxglove. Despite her logical brain, there was no logic to be found. She was exhausted and nearly delusional when she invited Foxglove to join her on moss collecting. She didn't get a lot collected when she fell sideways, dizzying the world around her and reopened her wound on her scruff.
