Moral Compass

Moral Compass has quite the story to him! His grandfather, Solar Compass, was in fact the Royal Advisor to Fog Cutter. He was known as a wise and well-respected Kirin, possessing powerful fire magic that was rumored to be strong enough to raise the sun. However, he was also prideful and power-hungry—he thought he could do a far better job of ruling Equestria than Fog Cutter, and so sought to betray him. One day, he challenged Fog Cutter to a test; which one of them could create the hottest flame. But when it came to be Solar Compass’s turn, he tried to focus the flames on Fog Cutter himself in an attempt to injure him enough to defeat him and steal the crown. However, Fog Cutter was too quick and powerful—he redirected the flames onto Solar Compass, burning him badly, and then banished him from the castle. He lived in squalor and shame, and the Compass name was thought forever ruined.

Eventually, Moral Compass was born. He faced constant bullying and cruelty at every turn from the moment of his birth; his mother wasn’t given medical treatment quickly enough and passed away, and his father, unable to find anyone to look after him, had to leave little Moral Compass in his office at the police station for the majority of his childhood. Despite all that stood in his way, Moral Compass was determined to bring his family back into the good graces of the King. He worked tirelessly to be helpful and good, even tracking down dangerous criminals at a young age. It cost him a fair share of injuries and lost innocence, but he strove to do everything he could to make things right.

Later, he came across Snowy Sleuth and offered himself as her shield as penance for his family’s crimes, to which she agreed.
