The reason Ras dislikes turtles is because she was bitten by one as a kid, and that same incident probably contributes to her discomfort in deep water. She forgets where she puts things and people tease her about it, which secretly bugs her, but she knows she needs to be more organized.

She spends her summers camping and going to various concerts. Smoothies are her go-to for any kind of schedule, whether it's an active day, and exciting one, or a chill day.

Childhood

Rasley was raised by a single mother who loved her daughter with ALL her heart. She never liked having to move their little family around, but her job required her to do so. Rasley's grown up with a solid understanding of what it means to make sacrifices. She never resented her mother for the moves or for not being able to afford the expensive adventure camps that Rasley would nab brochures for just to admire. She knew her mother loved her, and she understood that some things just weren't available to them. So even though she did feel bummed about this sometimes, she treasured the backyard campouts and at-home science/art projects that her mother would come up with to give her some adventure.

Growing Up

Rasley worked hard in school so that she could have more opportunities open up to her. She really wanted to do well to show her mom she was grateful for her. Rasley joined the cross-country team, signed up to be an after school tutor, and always volunteered at school events. She earned a scholarship which put her most of the way through college. In the lake town world, teachers get paid a lot more than they do in the real world USA. She started her teaching career very young, having gone to college right out of high school, and eventually moved to the lake town to pursue both a job and adventure. She flies or roadtrips every summer to spend time with her mom, as well as her mom coming to visit during holidays.

Present Day

Rasley brings her dog, Roger, to work, and he's a great motivator for the kids. He's a goober and usually lays under the kids' desks all day. Ras and Roger have a social media page where they share their hiking and climbing endeavors. Rasley lives in an apartment complex in the 'downtown' part of town. She usually walks to get her groceries and other shopping, since the shops are close by. She does have a car and a bicylce to get around as well. She takes either of those to work, depending on the season, since the school is a little ways outside of town.

• Roger is her second dog; she had a terrier called Max when she was a kid.
• Rasley's name was chosen because it felt very "classic JBD", ie. reminiscent of a time when no two JBDs could have the same name.
• Her favorite animal is an opossum.
