On the surface, Chais is a stereotypical Caedric soldier: tough, brave, stoical and merciless. For those close to him, however (namely his family), Chais is a kind, quiet, mature and well-spoken Raj, who lives for love rather than war. Whilst he is more than willing to protect his species from any threat, he does not like rushing into battle without a clear and reasonable reason for bloodshed to occur. However, if there is adequate reason, he will sacrifice whatever is needed, with the exception of his family, to get the job done. He once held a great deal of respect for Jarl Isyerim, but does not agree with all of his superstitions, and quietly thinks that the genocide that occurred at the paws of his Jarl was nothing short of a tragedy. Despite his opinion, in order to protect his family, he pledged his allegiance to Isyerim so thay their lives were not taken. His relations with the Mysbel in the Citadel are good, and the respect between them is a two-way street.
