Artair

Artair was the father of Avaritia and the wife of Cat.  He died far away in the South, apparently while working in order to support his struggling family.

 Appearance

Artair was a tall, and well built man, towering over Avaritia when she was a child.  He had the same strawberry-blond hair and red eyes of his daughter, with pale skin.  He was usually seen with a beard.  His clothes were very worn, and patched up in numerous places.

Personality

Artair is seen to be a gentle, kind and loving father.  Avaritia remembers him encouraging her misadventures, much to the annoyance of her mother.  He appeared to dislike disciplining his daughter with physical punishment, instead sitting her town and talking to her until she saw things from his perspective.

Artair also appeared to have a vast knowledge of nature, and would often pass knowledge of plants, animals and survival skills onto his little girl.  He disliked the current environmental state of his home country, seeing it as an ecological disaster – this attitude would also pass to Avaritia.  He wanted to be frank with his daughter, and struggled to hide his darker opinions of the South to her.  Above all, Artair loved his family, and when they began to struggle for money, he journeyed to the South in order to find work, and support them.  Ultimately, he died down there, apparently the victim of a mugging or other crime.
