Dr. Imartua (Phonetics; dɔktœʁ‿ imaʁtɥa) is a female serval who has a career in healthcare. She manages the care of an ICU unit. Specializing in intense care, she encounters a new patient, Madrid Langevière, which makes into her a secondary character of "13:42 PM" (read here). Her role in this story is the care she brings to Madrid as well as being her only attachment towards the end of the plot. She truly cares about the patients under her care.

Appearance

Dr. Imartua is a tall she-cat. She is of the serval species. She often wears makeup which consists of a purple eyeshadow with blue hues as well as a thick amount of mascara. She bears freckles on her face, shoulders and hips, her white markings are along her mouth, chest and tail tip as well as her ear fluffs. She has a slender and towering build compared to others. But it also makes her look fragile, in a way.

There is long wazy jet black hair reaching to her mid-torso in length. Often she will tie it behind her head, only letting a portion free. The hospital scrubs she wears is of a burgundy color. She wears grey boots as well as a black leather belt, finishing with a doctor's headdress and lab coat.

Notice that she is seen wearing her gloves, especially when working. Without them, her nails are the same color as her eyeshadow.

Personality

She has a calm demeanor. In the challenges that providing healthcare puts her through, she always acts with the adequate urgency. Having been graduated with a Doctorate in medicine only some years prior, she is still quick on her feet. Her long limbs making quick work of the distance between rooms when a color code calls for her aid. Outside of her job, she is an anchor within her multi-generational home. Having educational debt, she lazes and makes herself useful to her family. She is fragile to tragedies within her personal circle, which unfortunately means she is pained by the way certain souls leave this world, especially at her job. She will switch shifts to work within the hospital's nursery. Which gives her a break from all the deaths and focus on the new lives.

Early Life

In early childhood, Geneviève was bright as ever. A quiet and reserved child. Already towering over others of her age, her classmates were either scared of her, or made fun of her figure. She has only focused on her studies. As she grew up, she found an interest in the sciences as well as anatomy. But what has overtaken her with fascination was pathology. How was a body made to live, able to be rendered lifeless? She wanted to know everything. After graduation from high school, it was finally time for her to attend college and try herself at reaching University. Her family was super supportive of her choice in career. But she wouldn't dare let her mind wander on the thoughts which tell her that if she had chosen any other path, she could've disappointed them. As a young adult, more responsibilities were put onto her within the household. She would have to cook, clean or even take care of her young cousins while juggling with the difficult studies that comme with a medicine degree.

About the story

  • The story is meant to be vague and never straight up give away what was actually happening even at the end. But for clarity here I will explain;
  • The world Madrid (protagonist) is living in is a simulated environment with a lot of flaws. During a reboot of the simulation ( every midnight ), a corrupted file spread like a cancer through the servers. It duplicated everyone who managed to contract the bug, each time damaging the body of the original person. Causing rashes and necrotic tissues as well as tumors that will forever grow back as long as the anomalous doubles exists.
  • The great majority of the population is not aware of the simulation and firmly believe they truly "exist". The culprits of the problem are not even present on that plane of existence. The creators have left to fend for scraps.
  • To the characters. A lot are faced with psychological torture from their illness. For Madrid it killed her spirit. In the end of the story, she couldn't bring herself to be attached to anything else but the person she last had a connection with, Dr. Imartua. The only one who tried to save her despite reality. The illness had robbed her of everything until the loss didn't matter anymore. Her final acceptance was failure to maintain her strength.
  • In the end, the hole in the sky sucked everything into it. Finally extinguishing the World as it was.

Trivia

Regarding the Simulation

  • The name of the planet is Earth.
  • The simulation was a flawed prototype that was tested before a newer one was made. Which meant that when the issues began there was no effort to salvage it.
  • Before the entire ordeal, there were some glitches which would seem odd to us, but was completely normal for the residents. Think of it like being in a dream and intuitively knowing the laws of that universe despite it not being the same as yours.

Regarding the characters

  • Madrid is allergic to Sardines and Abilify.
  • Dr. Imartua never told her first name to Madrid.
  • Stan felt off about the clone of Madrid that replaced her in the start of Arc 4. It was too late when he realised, phones and screens had become useless. Text nonexistant.

Regarding the illness

  • The rash is overgrown subdermal tissues that melted through the epiderm and fur. A tissue with a disproportioate amount of collagen surrounds the scabs.
  • Some days before onset of the rash, the patient will suffer a high fever.
  • Sometimes the tumors grow in articulations and disable an entire limb. Those who grow in the spine leave a person helplessly paralyzed.
  • Amputation was attempted and those with only limbs affected were part of the 3% of successful recoveries when paired along with medication. Though the disease was still there, only managed.
  • The hallucinations were first blamed onto brain tumors, but almost all patients suffered from them. So it was added to the list of symptoms.
  • The chronic pain resulting from the afflictions would often make the infected patients lose patience and become hostile.
