Personality

+ Clever, Charming, Humble + . = Deceptive, Outspoken, Sassy = . - Secretive, Irritable, Hateful -

Ask anyone in ThunderClan and they will have nothing but good things to say about Spottedwing! He’s a great Warrior, incredibly loyal to Jaycrest and very humble about his achievements. He’s charming, capable of making some swoon over him with his sass, charm and disinterest in becoming a great Warrior of legend. He’s also very clever and always seems to be able to bring something to the table when his advice is asked for. He seems… perfect. Too perfect if you ask Cinderpaw.

Beneath all of this, Spottedpaw is hiding a deep anger. He’s very good at keeping his anger under control and hides it very well from everyone around him. He is very outspoken about his opinions, which he thinks through carefully before voicing. His sass only adds to his charm to many, but to some it is a real annoyance.

He carries more than one secret beneath his cheerful exterior. The irritation and anger that he holds also simmers deep down. And then there’s the hate, the hatred for anyone that he deems to be a bad cat. Cats who deserve to be punished.

History

Kithood

Spottedkit and Palekit were born to Owlfeather and Tigerbite in the warm and secure ThunderClan nursery. Spottedkit was always loud, crying the loudest out of all the kits and running full speed and meowing his head off when he was able to atnd on his tiny kitten paws.

He was always close with Palekit and was very outspokenly protective of her when it was discovered she was deaf. In his mind there was nothing wrong with his sister and there was no reason Palekit should be treated any differently, even if she couldn’t hear. In fact, he did his best to learn the best ways to communicate with his sister.

At the back of his mind there was always that nagging warning. His line was plagued with darkness and blood followed their paws. And Tigerbit always told him that bad cats deserved to be punished.

Apprenticeship

Mallowstar appointed Spottedpaw to Jaycrest for training. Jaycrest was young and Spottedpaw was his first apprentice. The young cat was eager to learn but not from Fowltooth, Jaycrest’s father who always seemed to be hanging around like an annoying burr. That wouldn’t do.

Spottedpaw hated the way Fowltooth spoke to Jaycrest. Was Fowltooth one of those “bad cats” that Tigerbite always told him about? Most likely. During training sessions Spottedpaw would promptly sit down and refuse to move until Fowltooth left. He was assigned to Jaycrest, not Fowltooth, after all. Seeing the grumpy old tom finally leave gave Spottedpaw a great feeling of satisfaction.

During his training, Spottedpaw would teach Jaycrest how to stand up for himself. In a sense, Spottedpaw is the one who put the blue tom into the prime position to one day be named deputy. At least, that’s what he thinks. Afterall, good cats deserve good things and he was helping a good cat.

He remained close with Palepaw and got to know her mentor, Murkfoot rather well. He also befriended Emberpaw, an older apprentice who was training under Dawnfire. He seemed to easily draw others to him, continuing to remain close friends with Emberflower even after she received her Warrior name.

Warriorhood

Spottedpaw was named Spottedwing alongside his sister, Palefur. He stood proudly before his Clan as they called out his new name. Now that he was a Warrior, he was going to protect his Clan and good cats at all costs. Nothing would stop him!

He worked hard as a Warrior, still remaining close with Jaycrest and following his former mentor seemingly blindly. Jaycrest, afterall, was a prime example of everything a cat should strive to be and Spottedwing was determined to protect him, especially from Fowltooth.

Spottedwing was a much loved Warrior in ThunderClan. He was always there to lend a paw and became a huge support during the greencough outbreak. When there was no one to do it, he changed bedding, repaired dens, cleared the elder’s of ticks and assisted with bringing herbs back to the Clan with Palefur. If he could, he would even venture into Twoleg Place for catmint. Strange that there was always barking… When Murkfoot succumbed to the outbreak he left behind a single kit with his mate, Ebonyflower.

Truthfully, Spottedwing found Cinderkit to be a bit annoying. But, they were a kit and it was Spottedwing’s job to protect them. It was, after all, the Code.

Finally, Jaycrest was named deputy by Dawnstar. Spottedwing was quick to congratulate his friend. It was the perfect choice! It would be stupid to name any other cat deputy! But as always, Fowltooth had to stick his nose where it didn’t belong.

The crusty old tom was vocally against Jaycrest being made deputy and to Spottedwing’s delight, Jaycrest actually shut Fowltooth down! But it wasn’t enough.

Anger burned within Spottedwing. This time, Fowltooth had gone too far. And how much further would he go? That thought was enough to spur Spottedwing into action. Fowltooth had to go for the good of the Clan and for Jaycrest. It was time to carry out Tigerbite’s wish, he was going to kill Fowltooth.

He met the tom at the edge of Twoleg Place, offering to help him track down Pippitnose for closure. “I know where her nest is. I saw her when I was gathering catmint.” he told Fowltooth. It was all too easy. Fowltooth followed him without question and soon they reached the yard Spottedwing had been aiming for.

While Fowltooth was leaning forward to get a better look at the nest, Spottedwing pushed him. The yowl he let out was enough to draw the dog out of hiding. He stayed where he was, just watching and waiting until he was sure Fowltooth was dead. But, his work wasn’t done yet. He threw himself into the jaws of the dog, allowing himself to be mauled enough to convince his Clan that he had attempted to save Fowltooth from the dog.

He dragged the body back to camp, one eye unseeing until he finally came across a patrol. His story worked and it didn’t escape him that Jaycrest didn’t mourn the fallen Warrior. Job well done. But this would be a secret that he was determined to take with him to the grave. No one could know what he had done.

Life went on and Spottedwing’s wounds healed, leaving the handsome tom brutally scarred. But, he was happy. Jaycrest was given another apprentice, Murkfoot’s kit, Cinderpaw. Spottedwing is determined to keep a close eye on the young cat. If Cinderpaw even dreamed of betraying Jaycrest, there would be hell to pay.

Spottedwing was given Burrpaw as his first apprentice. But that wasn't the highlight of his life this moon. No, it was finally tracking down the exiled WindClan cat, Ashjump and joining her cause, a group she was calling "The Moonstone Alliance". He was ready to help her in any way possible, believing that with her help he could ensure that all bad cats would face punishment, and no one would ever hurt Jaycrest again.

He and Palefur attended the Gathering and encountered a WindClan cat named Starlingshine who was looking for a cat named Finchbranch. He knew the name well, as Finchbranch had been a ThunderClan warrior before she had died, and a friend of Fowltooth. He told Starlingshine the truth about Finchbranch before vanishing into the crowd of the Gathering, paying close attention to the arguements between the deputies and leaders.

That night he slipped away, readily relaying the information to Ashjump. He brought prey back with him... just in case anyone asked what he had been up to. After all, it had been a VERY exciting Gathering.

Life for Spottedwing would take an even more interesting turn when he and Palefur stumbled across an injured and starving rogue near the WindClan border. The two took her back to camp and cared for her as best as they could. Learning that her name was Fadingkit and that she had originally come from ThunderClan, Spottedwing would soon begin forming a sibling relationship with her, one that would only grow stronger when Palefur was summoned for a mission from StarClan alongside Beartooth.

His time would be spent either training Burrpaw, caring for Fadingkit or hanging out with Jaycrest. But there was still more twists on the horizon when he was summoned to the RiverClan border to witness the discussion of a Sunningrock's treaty. An idea that he hoped would work out well for the Clans.

But, it was Twoleg Place that would once again greatly impact his life. While checking up on herb supplies with Jaycrest, Spottedwing would be struck with panic upon stumbling across the yard that housed the beast he'd used to murder Fowltooth. With Jaycrest's help he calmed down and soon ended up digging up something very interesting about his friend. Jaycrest was meeting up with WindClan's deputy in secret. Spottedwing swore that he wouldn't tell a soul, Jaycrest's secret was safe with him and he would even cover for him. What was important to him was that Jaycrest was happy.

He would attend the Gathering again, only so he could tell Fadingkit's WindClan friend she was safe in ThunderClan, but other than that was rather uninterested in what was going on in the other Clans.

It was the arrival of Palefur's friend, Duststorm, in ThunderClan's camp that Spottedwing's life would once again lurch in a whole different direction. Palefur and Beartooth had gone missing. Something he... honestly wasn't overly surprised about. As he explained to Dawnstar, Palefur had never felt that she'd belonged in Clan life. He just hoped she was happy. He soon found himself with no blood kin left in ThunderClan, as his father would leave to search for Palefur during Dawnstar's announcement. But it wasn't all doom and gloom, as Fadingkit was given a new name, Hazelwish, and accepted into ThunderClan.

Surely things would calm down now, right? Wrong! That night three WindClan cats plus two cats from the mysterious Brightwood showed up in ThuderClan asking to join. Stunned, but happy to welcome Houndkick, now going by Hound, and Duststorm into ThunderClan, Spottedwing was nothing but supportive. In the long run, this would be healthier for Jaycrest, and it already looked like Emberflower was happy to have Duststorm around. Maybe... maybe this could work.
