Charon Del Rio

introduction.

The Psychopomp. The Ferryman. This early Archetype has been around as long as humans have thought of what was beyond death. Long ago, they would guide souls personally to their final destinations across a myriad of mythologies and forms. Now, as newer, more specialized Archetypes have taken her place, She was left unthought of- and went dormant.

At least, until now. She has been called to reality under the iteration of "Charon." Tethered to what little belief she is given, she has been tasked to one, final project: To return the One Who Got Away from death back to where he belongs.

Now, lost in a new, modern world, she meets allies who have made her think about the meaning of change and the value of a human's life- especially of the one she learns to love.

GOSPEL FOR A NEW CENTURY - YVES TUMOR

personality. loyal / dutiful / cryptic

Charon is dutiful and does not let down on her word. She is very polite and relies on an almost archaic code of hospitality, ensuring to show respect to those she meets. She speaks in a way which is overwhelmingly honest to her, but incredibly cryptic to others. She believes that the end justifies the means, and as an intermediary Archetype, she tends to involve those of reality in these means.

She is never found not working towards something, and is puzzled when considering things like relaxation. She is barely familiar with not having a plan for things, with her spotty knowledge about reality making her realize that she might have to adapt more than she thinks.

Much of her duty hides a loneliness she doesn't know how to recognize. She doesn't actually place much value on her life, believing herself to be more of a piece of a grand plan rather than an individual. Only until she spends more time among humanity that she learns fear of the end and the worth of her life.

trivia.

  • As Archetypes take forms based on the most convienient iteration at the time, and currently, it's a character from a popular media.
    • Her appearance is also a dig on supernatural TV show characters trying to act human.
    • She gave herself a last name for simplicity.
  • Got knowledge of humanity from the souls she ferried, and she's well-learned on some aspects than others. Does not know about late-stage capitalism.
  • Due to having a human projection, she doesn't know if she has to eat or sleep. She does.
    • At least in some form once in a while. She can also get sick, much to her discomfort.
  • Takes superstition as fact and sometimes carries around resturant salt packets. A little bit loser about it.

design notes.

  • Curved nose and constant eyebags. Please don't draw her without them.
  • Awkwardly tall and lanky. Tends to look out of place anywhere.
  • Almost always wears a black trenchcoat, even in the heat of California.
    • Wear's some of Emil's clothes too, later in the story.
  • Usually has a neutral expression, not very emotive.
