Hootwing

Hootwing is a warrior of WindClan. He is the son of Howlstorm and Dandeliontail. His mentor was Sharpwhisker.

According to Howlstorm, Hootkit is a pawful.

Kithood

Hootkit is born to Dandeliontail and Howlstorm alongside his siblings, Sandykit and Mistykit. Gingerpaw and Dewstorm check in on them often, and Howlstorm brings Dandeliontail plenty of prey to make sure she has enough milk. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 6)

Monarchstar announces the birth of Hootkit, Sandykit, and Mistykit at the gathering. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 7)

Hootkit, Sandykit, and Mistykit are bored and bound over to Gingerpaw. They ask if he'll play with them. Hootkit asks if Sandykit's paw falls off, if Gingerpaw can stick it back on. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 10)

Sandykit, Hootkit, and Mistykit are playing outside the nursery at sunrise while their parents watch. When they see Hazelfrost is awake, they rush over and she continues telling them the story of Bone Shred's defeat. The kits are surprised to hear Firetail was friends with Iceslide, a RiverClan cat. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 14)

Apprenticeship

Hootpaw is apprenticed and receives Sharpwhisker as his mentor.

That evening, he and his siblings offer to guard the medicine den for Gingerfrost. Hootpaw vows he won't let any cat inside and crouches into a battle pose. Gingerfrost kindly declines their offer, and the three are embarrassed as Dandeliontail playfully scolds her kits for being tired of training after one day. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 23)

At the gathering, Hootpaw and Sandypaw introduce themselves to Tigerpaw and Nightpaw. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 25)

Hootpaw is injured, and Ivy drags him to safety (Winds of Darkness, chapter 26). Later in the RiverClan camp, Gingerfrost is tending to Hootpaw. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 29)
