Fhushhjaeh Angels

General Information

Fhushhjaeh angels are a purely magical species, rather than a biological one. Their species is one of apex predators and much of their anatomy is optimized to reflect this. Their body roughly consist of three parts for this purpose; their core, an exoskeleton, and six pairs of wings.

The Core

Their core is split into two parts, the primary core at their 'chest' and a secondary core at their 'head'. While the two cores have overlapping functions, they serve each their own purpose.
The primary core is the one that keeps the angel alive and where most of their magic is created and maintained. If this core is damaged then it leaves the angel permanently crippled as such damage cannot be healed, while if it is destroyed then the angel dies. The primary core constantly emits a certain magic to keep the body connected and to send and recieve signals between the two cores. The primary core effectively works much alike to a human brain, while the magic that it constantly emits works akin to a humans nervous system.
Whenever a Fhushhjaeh angel uses magic, they also manifest it at the primary core. While the secondary core can be used to do magic, it is very difficult and needs a lot of training, leaving most to avoid such. While the secondary core does use magic, it is very specific magic, making it difficult to mold into what the angel needs. The primary core on the other hand does not shape nor decide the purpose of the magic it generates right away, and so this magic can be made into whatever the angel needs it to be without any issue nor resistance.
The primary core additionally stores any and all important information about the angel be this memories, sensory stimulation, genetics, or otherwise. Thus, they can share parts of themselves by infusing that which they want to share into magic made by the primary core and giving this to someone else, effectively resulting in something similar to their collaborative mindscape with the others of their species further mentioned below.
It is also the primary core that is used for any reproductive means, usually by mixing small parts of their cores with one or several other angels to create a new one, thus creating a new angel. This process is also the only process that allows for the primary core to regenerate, allowing Fhushhjaeh angels to make as many offspring as they desire, given recovery periods.

The secondary core at the head functions as the angel's communication link to the rest of all Fhushhjaeh angels, as well as an uncontrollable soul vacuum.
Fhushhjaeh angel's do not naturally communicate through sound, body language, nor any other physical means. Instead, their secondary core links them all up into the same "mindscape" of sorts. Here, the angels can reach out to any other angel at any time, given that both angel's secondary core is intact. Likewise can they reach out to masses of angels at the same time in a form of group thought. They can share both thoughts, feelings, and any other sensation they may be have and can do this in the matter of milliseconds. Not just does this mean that they can keep up with several different mindscape chats seemingly at once, but that they can share information with each other that almost no other species is able to, making them very efficient at communicating effectively and accurately.
Should the secondary core be damage then it can be repaired, however the angel's ability to communicate will be handicapped for the duration. Should the secondary core be destroyed entirely, then the angel is able to establish a connection to the collaborative mindscape through their primary core, though this is a tedious and draining process. Yet, is no such connection established, then the angel will sooner rather than later go insane. This is because they are made to at any given point hear and feel their fellow angels, leaving them complete strangers both to complete silence, as well as being completely alone with their own thoughts which in turn makes them incapable of such without vigurous training. Even with training, the time they can tolerate to stay separated from the mindscape without going insane can only be made longer and never become permanent.
The other function of the secondary core is to act as a soul vacuum. This is an involuntary process that the angel has no control over, where if the secondary core can detect anything with a soul through the face-hole, then it will forcefully pull that soul into itself and use it as an energy source. Most Fhushhjaeh angels can comfortably prey on up to five souls at once, however with the proper training this can be extended into the thousands. Preying on more souls than they can manage can lead to the souls they prey on gaining agency inside of them, and so tear them apart from inside of their cores. It is also important to note that this ability is only possible through their face-hole, as the neck-hole has proven to possess no such abilities. Exactly why this is so is not known.
While the secondary core is not strictly necessary for their survival as a link to the collaborate mindscape can be made with their primary core, it does shorten their lifespan significantly if it is destroyed or lost. Should the need arise, then the Fhushhjaeh angel can purposefully sever the secondary core and its exoskeleton from the rest of their body, rendering it completely harmless and unable to ever be reconnected.

Wings

Fhushhjaeh angels have three pairs of wings in total. Two pairs at their head and one large pair at their back.

The two pairs at their head is large enough to fully cover the front and sides of their head. These wings are almost permanently folded comfortably around their head in order to hide their face-hole and thereby their secondary core. Many Fhushhjaeh angels go their entire lives without ever unfolding these wings, as doing so can cause untold damage to those around them due to the secondary cores function as a soul vacuum, as mentioned in the core section.
Aside from protecting others from having their soul forcefully removed and Fhushhjaeh angels from housing too many souls at once, the head wings also serve as physical protectors for the secondary core.

The third pair of wings at their back is much larger and make up most of their physical form. While they are large enough to allow the angel to fly, they are not a Fhushhjaeh angel's main method of flying as this is done through magic. Instead, the wings mainly serve as protection for. Not just are they a good cushion due to their massive amounts of feathers, but they are also very sturdy and hard to damage. This makes them excellent for breaking falls from any height as well as very durable shields.

Exoskeleton

Their exoskeleton consists of two parts; a chest with arms to protect the primary core, and a head to protect the secondary core.
The exoskeleton is incredibly durable and solid. Hitting against it is much akin to hitting a steel wall and so able to withstand most direct hits. Should it be damaged, then this damage will mostly appear in the form of cracks. While a Fhushhjaeh angel's magic is able to mend these cracks or hold the exoskeleton together while it is mended, should a crack reach all the way around the exoskeleton then it will temporarily be rendered useless. The magic can still manouvre the exoskeleton around much akin to a shield, however the arms on the chest will no longer be able to function and it will be much easier to tear the exoskeleton from the magics grasp with a well-placed hit. This is especially an issue for the head as a complete removal of the exoskeleton there would result in a short burst of soul vacuuming from the secondary core before it would be disconnected by the primary core. This, in turn, would leave the angel temporarily disconnected from the collaborative mindscape and permanently crippled as described in the core section.

The arms on the chest as well as all wings can move independently of the angel's current magic production. This is because they act as a sort of battery that the angel can charge when they have plenty of magic, then make use of whenever magic is scarce. It is worth noting that this extra magic cannot be used for anything but moving the arms, wings, or as an emergency reserve if the primary core is dying.

One might think the chest to be ineficcient at protecting the primary core as it does not cover it in full. This is however intentional, as any and all magic that a Fhushhjae angel does comes from the primary core, with a few exceptions. This in turn means that the angel needs space to create whatever they may need, which the exoskeleton would be hindering if it would cover any more than it already does.

Colors

Illustration of the possible colors of Fhushhjaeh angels.

Fhushhjaeh angels can come in many colors. Only the color's hue seems to be limiting what colors they can have, as both value and saturation can vary vividly.
Most Fhushhjaeh angels' hue will roughly be between vivid mulberry and medium spring green, which is already a broad range in and off itself. However, a rare time and again there will be an angel whose color lies between vivid mulberry and spanish crimson or between medium spring green and malachite. These are as said rare and far inbetween, but there will be a few every generation.

Color does not have any effect on a Fhushhjaeh angel's abilities, behavior, or otherwise and thus only serves an aesthethic purpose.

General Information

Fhushhjaeh angels mainly make use of holy magic and are capable of celestial magic. This makes them highly holy beings as they are made up of said magic which in turn gives them a weakness towards the unholy. Even so, they are still considered fearful oponents amongst unholy beings that only the strongest would survive a deadly encounter with.
Their cores each primarily makes use of one of the two magic types. The primary core almost exclusively makes and is able to use holy magic which is the reason for this being their primary magic type. The secondary core produces and uses much smaller ammounts of magic and almost exclusively makes use of celestial magic. This separation in magic types is due to the different uses of the cores. The primary core mainly has its focus on keeping the angel alive as well as securing the angel's defence and offense, which holy magic is inheritely more attuned to than celestial magic. The secondary core has its focus on communication and soul manipulation, both integral parts of celestial magic.

Magic Production

Image text

Fhushhjaeh angels have two methods of producing the magic that they need to thrive, one method for each core.

The primary core constantly siphons the natural magic in the surrounding area to then make it into its own holy magic. It additionally sends a sliver of the magic it siphons up to the secondary core to be converted into celestial magic instead. In a way, the primary core siphoning and transforming magic is to a Fhushhjaeh angel what drinking is to a human. A process that is necessary for survival and though they can survive without it for some time, that time is not long.

The secondary core cannot siphon magic from the surroundings. Instead it relies almost exclusively on the siphoned magic by the primary core in order to change this into celestial magic. This, in turn, is used to upkeep the angel's link to the collaborative mindscape as well as the face-hole's ability to forcefully remove souls from other beings. It does have one way to reel in its own form of magic to convert though, which is leeching off of the remaining life energy of souls. In order to do this, the secondary core needs to remove at least one beings soul through the angel's face-hole which it then stores inside of it and slowly drains as it needs the energy. While storing a soul like this, the soul is still alive as the core feeds off of the soul's life energy specifically. This means that the process is quite the long and agonizing experience for the soul and over the ages so many souls have been scarred by this process that Fhushhjaeh angels were forbidden from using this power unless absolutely necessary.
The process isn't entirely harmless for the angels themselves either, however. Since the souls they feed off of are technically still alive, should the secondary core lose its control over a soul, then the soul will have more or less free roam to wreck havoc inside the core and potentially also the primary core. Most Fhushhjaeh angels can comfortably keep track of five souls at any given time, however keeping track of more than that quickly becomes dangerous. With enough training, this capacity can be expanded and some of the strongest Fhushhjaeh angels have been able to house thousands of souls inside of their secondary core at once.
It goes without saying that most Fhushhjaeh angels never use this method of gaining magic and instead rely purely on their primary core's ability to siphon magic instead.

Weapons

Image text.

By far the most trained type of magic for Fhushhjaeh angels is the ability to materialize, upkeep, and cast magic through a magical weapon. While this may not sound too impressive at first, these magic weapons are essentially magic enhancers and converters. Not only do they strenghten whatever magic the angel casts through it, but it can also convert it into equally lethal, non-magical attacks should such be needed.

While this weapon can take any shape that the Fhushhjaeh angel desires, most all choose to materialize it into a form of spear, halberd, or other alike, long-reach melee weapons. In part this has proven to be what most gravitate towards naturally, but it is also the type of weapon any Fhushhjaeh angel who came to be in their capitol is trained in. It is also worth noting that the angel does not have to have seen a physical counterpart before materializing their weapon, but instead seem to inheritely know how one looks, functions, and is used properly.

Other Magic Useages

Image text.

Despite being primarily holy magic users, Fhushhjaeh angels are only decent at healing and mending, two features that are usually seen as a core part of holy magic. Instead, they've adapted to fully optimize and make use of holy magic's offensive abilities, something more commonly associated with chaotic magic. This makes them harder to counter, as many types of attacks that they make use of are almost exclusive to their species.
While they specialize in the offensive attributes of holy magic, they are no strangers to other fields. Many Fhushhjaeh angels have their secondary strenght in either glamour or emotion control for holy magic, or alternatively communication or soul sight for celestial magic. Aside from that, Fhushhjaeh angels are know to be able to hone most any field relating to holy or celestial magic to expert levels if they desire to do so.

General Information

Fhushhjaeh angel's are an interesting case when it comes to behavior. While their entire anatomy is optimised for them being killing machines, their behavior does not exactly match that.

While they are naturally not expressive physically in the slightest, their thoughts very much make up for that. Curious, excited, and optimistic are keywords that describe their inner thoughts and how they come across inside their collaborative mindscape. They love to learn about other species and people and will often try to seek these out to observe them. With a body which screams bloody murder, this is often a challenge.

Behavior Inside the Mindscape

Image text.

Body language, audible communication, and other normal forms of communication between beings is not something that naturally comes to Fhushhjaeh angels. Instead, such things need to be taught them. Especially audible communication is something they find particularly difficult as they need to be taught how to use their magic to create audible sounds in the first place. Instead, their natural outward behavior is stoic, strict, and firm. They move only if necessary, have no face to emote with, and can't talk.

If a Fhushhjaeh angel wants to communicate with other species than their own, then they will try to establish a mind link. In other words; they start talking in the other's mind as were their voice part of the other's thoughts. This usually comes across to the other in one of two ways:
1) It confuses, horrifies, and generally freaks the other out
2) It fails, due to mind magic protections or otherwise
Unsurprisingly, unless the one they try to communicate with already knows of Fushhjaeh angels and how they work, the other tends to be uncomfortable with them at best and horrified at worst.

For a species that is naturally incredibly curious of others, this poses quite the problem for them. Having the pull of really wanting to learn of others and be able to be around them to experience what they do, and the push of those others often being afraid and on edge around them, led the Fhushhjaeh angels to really try to get into other's good graces.

Fashion amongst Fhushhjaeh angels is a topic mostly limited to accessories and small bedazzlements. Garments or other subjects that cover large areas of their form is generally viewed in a negative or obligatory light, and so the fashion choices in such are usually made on basis of necessary criteria rather than on fun and beauty.
