Kaimana was rescued and named by her captain when she was seven months old, after the boat on which she was born had completely ran out of food and water. The sailors had started to resort to cannibalism or starve to death, until the boat had reached the Delta region, where pirate queen Morwenna and her Seals had put them out of their misery to devour them.
Kaimana was spared, being so young, and was adopted by the crew. Living so close to the Delta's gate, the portal to The Land of Youth, changed her body and altered her humanity a little, although she wasn't thoroughly changed as a changeling brought over the portal would.
She became a pointy eared sea witch, sensitive to magic's presence and skilled in fae etiquette. Being raised by human-eating faes, she has no qualms about eating any living being her crew attacks.
