The death you receive isn’t necessarily what you deserve. But, if you find him, you will receive a kind death regardless of how you lived.

Sometimes he sits and talks to them, if they allow it. He learns and loves each person and he holds their hand when he walks them to their end.

Sometimes he finds a person that was too young to have experienced anything at all, and he hands them their favorite toys as he would with anyone else their favorite song or their treasure box of insignificant rocks.

Sometimes he finds a person that is wise of age but lacking wisdom. They graduated school, started a successful business, had a family, and lived as they wished. Yet they had not experienced anything at all. They were unkind in life, yet in death they found him nonetheless. They talk, he leaves them with a gift and walks with them out the door.

He lingers around those that will meet him soon. They see a strange, talkative young man at their hospital bed. A brown-blond boy shields them from the blizzard above. A hand holds theirs as they lay in the dark, miles deep in the stone underground. When they ask, the nurses say they haven’t recorded any visitors. They grasp their lost diamond ring as their body is buried under layers of snow. They hold and tell their story to the last person they will ever touch

the gifts he gives them are almost always personal- something they lost, something they grew up with, something with meaning to them as they died- but sometimes he gets it wrong and not everyone needs to part with Something. But he must leave them with a gift regardless

This specific presence of death exists because of Him, and were anyone else in his place, their kind of death would be fitting of how they lived and died. Death can be a kind and very personal thing. It is not Cold (though it can be), it is finding what you lost and it is laughing with someone who loves you for who you were and are. It is a death that has experienced everything it means to be alive and more.
