Redesigning is A-OK, just keep it similar or recognizable enough to the original. Re-selling is only acceptable at the price bought, or lower. ONLY if you commissioned art for the character, increasing the base price is okay. If it was traded through art or characters, only resell that way unless commissions have been bought. Finally, never remove my credit.
