CLASS.

TIME KEEPER. A rare, soulbound mage-locked class that is as it sounds. Their magic is heavily reliant on time and so are their lives: simply because upon surviving the contract, a Time Keeper becomes immortal. However, their immortality is based on a timer that’s engraved into their wrists. Due to their class and the aid magic, they can siphon time from others however they cannot take time from the dead.

  • Taking time from another person isn’t as drastic as it sounds, sometimes it’s a completely harmless transaction: i.e. an extra 10 years on a Time Keeper’s clock can barely be an hour lost from their victim’s lifespan. However, in turn, taking time from someone who hasn’t much, can be damaging. What you think might be an hour of their time, can actually be a decade’s worth of their lifespan.

Although heavily reliant on magic, a Time Keeper is often bonded with their weapon of choice. Even though it’s a close-combat / melee driven style of weaponry, they’ve trained a combat style that isn’t without magic. Luca’s happens to be a set of daggers called Constella.

More about Luca’s magic & abilities can be found in the abilities section.

WEAPON.

CONSTELLA. Normally depicted as a half-sleeve of tattoos on Luca’s upper right arm as seen here, they are the triplet daggers that are locked to Luca. Usually equipped in singular use or as twin daggers, the third serving as a backup in case something were to go wrong with one of its siblings. The blades are heavily embedded with Luca’s magic, making them unable to be stolen however they can break or wear down like any other weapon.

Since they are basically an extension of Luca’s magic, the blades can be used simultaneously with his abilities. For example, with application of their Spatial Time Sovereignty, Constella can cut through “time & space” to make a portal intended for teleportation usage.

WEAPONIZED TATTOO. Constella is not only the name of the daggers but of the whole tattoo itself. The constellations shown on his tattoo aren’t static but are also in rotation much like our own constellations as well. But unlike with our stars, where some constellations appear seasonally or yearly, Luca’s constellations are rotating at a slow but much faster speed and can show seasonal constellations about every other month. ( Okay listen, I had to sit and think aboutt this for a while before just concluding to this because constellation rotations are weird but you can probably see most constellations cycle through Luca’s tattoo in about like six months’ time? )

Not much of a weapon but as a mage, Luca’s magic comes from the aid of glyphs although for some magic, they doesn’t need to use them. Although their glyphs are pretty specific to their character. As shown here, the glyph takes heavy inspiration from an analog clock because Luca deals a lot with time— in that same breath, it also has a star-like shape because of the bearings of time & space existing on the same continuum. ( Also because Luca’s inspired fruit is a star fruit but y'know )

ABILITY.

CHRONOKINESIS.

  • DEFINITION. An ability that allows the user to manipulate time and can be limited to a specific target or area and used in various manners revolving around: accelerating, slowing, stopping, and even rewinding time. Requires constant focus.
  • CHRONOMAGIA. An extension of Luca’s chronokinesis and is utilized by aid of his glyphs. But it allows the user to perform a variety of magic that manipulates time. Specifically, it is used on other people &objects. For example, Luca uses their glyphs like a stamp and when applied to… A tree sapling, for instance, Luca can manipulate the time of its growth without having to focus much on it. Further example is: Luca can grow a little garden with glyph aided chronomagia and can multitask without risking one of the plants being unaffected by his Chronokinesis.

SPATIAL TIME SOVEREIGNTY.

  • DEFINITION. Since time and space exist as a single continuum, to manipulate time can also be synonymous with manipulating space thus, spatial time control. Can be used as a teleportation mechanism, to time travel, or to event negate, etc.
  • LIMITER. Even though time and space are on the same continuum, the usage of Spatial Time Sovereignty bears negative consequences for Luca. With prolonged usage, it can cause severe tears in the flesh as if someone is continuously slicing at them. If usage is continued even when side effects begin, it can lead to a slow & very painful death.
    • Altercation of death, relationships, birth, accidents, or significant moments in the past can quickly deplete Luca’s lifespan. Hundreds of years can be gone in the matter of minutes, depending on the altercation, it can result in immediate death. ( He’s only found out when he tried to save his dog from dying. In the end, he had to let go of Poochie regardless. )

COSMICMAGIA.

  • DEFINITION. With or without the usage of glyphs, this is an ability that allows the user to utilize a form of magic that is related to stars or other cosmic entities. Which allows for the formation of black holes, the ability to summon celestial beings, or use cosmic / star energy offensively.
  • LIMITATIONS. Summons are limited to embodiments of the Zodiacs or embodiments of lower-class stars. Luca cannot summon a celestial entity of religious alignment: i.e God. They also cannot use the Sun for star energy.

ELEMENTAL MAGIA. Strictly with the usage of glyphs, this allows the user to use different elements in the form of magic. Can be used to aid in the manipulation of an element to a certain degree. Can be used with weaponry, thus having different elemental effects in a melee battle. ( for example: If fire is infused into Constella, Luca’s opponent can be burned just by touching the blade. )

MEMORIA VESSEL.

  • DEFINITION. An ability that allows the user to contain memories into an object, being, environment, or location. Transferring memories can cause Memory Suppression and any destroyed vessels may cause Memory Destruction. However, memories may return to their original owner if their vessel is destroyed, or if it strong enough, it may simply return to their owner just out of sheer “will.”
  • LIMITER. Can use this ability on someone else, if and only if the other party is completely willing to let their whole life be on display to Luca. Luca views memories almost like a film reel.
PERSONALITY.

+ CHARISMATIC. Luca is very talkative and if allowed, they’ll talk your ear off. They carry themselves clearly, almost smiling every chance you see them. They’re genuine about their praise and will not hesitate to listen to you, regardless of topic. Luca is a very open-minded person and is probably the one person least likely to judge you. ( Although, he’s not perfect, there are things he doesn’t approve of either. )

+ PLAYFUL. This can tie into his charisma but Luca is a very high-spirited person, quick to make jokes or mess around with friends. Seeming to have a lot of energy, always enthusiastic about new possibilities or interest. Sometimes it can be seen as absentmindedness, but there’s more to life than a solemn face!

- COMPLAINT. Although Luca seems to have a very headstrong personality, he can be quite passive. Not in the way that being submissive completely domineers his will but how, he doesn’t put himself or his wants first. Luca tends to be a very “go with the flow” type of person, sometimes it can be viewed as selflessness but its’ rather that they don’t really want to butt heads with anyone that it’s easy to swallow definite rebuttal. It can also be a good thing because of this, Luca can tend to be very forgiving.

- PESSIMISTIC. Don’t let their jubilant composure fool you, the optimism is most likely a disguise. Especially when directed at himself. Luca finds many faults in themselves, doubting everything and can tear into any shred of happiness without even batting an eye. Despite the confidence they might display, they lose faith easily and tend to leave projects unfinished or tossed aside. Which might be viewed as laziness but if there is no immediate gratification of doing something for themselves, then what’s the point?

BACKGROUND.

using he / him as Luca's main pronouns for this section.

Growing up as a child who was prone to sickness wasn’t fun at all: Especially when children who were supposed to be friends ended up giving up on you because every other day you came done with a nasty cold or a chilling fever. However, being indoors often came to prove fruitful for an aspiring little mage and boy, did he have an aptitude for it. It was lucky that his mother had a selection of tomes in her personal library because otherwise, teaching himself magic without a guide could have gone very bad very quickly. That’s not to say he was outstanding at it from the get go, it took a lot of time to even make a cube of ice without it shattering from too much focus. That was the great thing about being a child though, he never got too disheartened about it and would always try again regardless of failed outcomes.

Time would prove to be a patient mentor but also a benefactor but that’s a story for latter one.

As Luca grew budded into adolescence, so did his knack for magic. Although it was still only elemental but it did him justice. Having something to focus on through the years kept him preoccupied, therefore stressing out his mother less since he wouldn’t constantly attempt to sneak out. In turn, it gave his immune system a chance to grow with him. Although he totally tried to enchant it at one point in time. Can you blame him though? He’s a kid, he really wanted to be outside with the other children. That’s not to say he suddenly became invincible, he still got sick but it wasn’t as often as it once was. Which made his studies a lot easier because school gets more challenging when one’s a teenager. He couldn’t have possibly dealt with the headache of having to make-up almost every other lesson. ( Sort of gave him the bad habit of showing up to school with a fever but hey, you gotta give him props. He was eager to learn. )

Every chance he could, whether it was an elective class or an afterschool activity, Luca would sign up for anything that the school had to offer about magic. He even took the beginners workshop because even though he probably knew everything that it had to offer, he wanted to double check that he was using his craft correctly. Eventually, with eagerness came the desire to push himself further.

Okay, in hindsight, maybe trying to pursue time based magic was a bit too advance for a thirteen-year old and maybe he shouldn’t have borrowed a time tome from the crazy dog lady who lived down the corner— but it’s as they say: Curiosity killed the cat. However, in his case: Curiosity bound a contract with the cat.

It’s still never a clear memory to him but Luca knows that he all he was just trying to do was mimic an incantation of a simple time spell before a rift tore the ground and made him fall into a weird fabrication of the space-time continuum.

This is where things get kind of hazy.

Young descendent of Libra, was the one thing he remembered the most as it was such a weird way to address him that it was engraved into his mind but it’s what…. They called him. The rift was so dark in contrast to blinding entity that floated before him that his eyes couldn’t adjust, not matter how much he tried, so he couldn’t get a constructive visual of how they looked.

What’s worse, he couldn’t understand most of what they were saying. Their words were deep but grated against his eardrums like nails scrapped against a chalkboard— at the same time, it echoed just like a woman in a horror movie would screech. And they would not stop talking. The mere sound of it was enough to feel like his ears were bleeding but as it continued to talk, it felt like someone was tearing off his skin starting from the very tips of his fingers. There was so much pain that coursed through his little body that death might have been better than this.

Since time was a lost in the place he fell into, he didn’t know how long he had to endure such torment but without a doubt it felt like eternity. Then suddenly, it all just stopped. How or why, he didn’t know or understand. Luca only realized that the torture ceased when he could hear his coarse screaming tearing across the silent abyss.

Just as surprising was that he could finally see clearly and before him was an illuminated figure of an armored titan and when it spoke, he could unmistakably understand their words. ( Regardless of how their tempo sounded strangely like the gentle ticks of a clock. )

The titan simply said: The contract has been sealed. Utilize it wisely, keeper of Libra. Then Luca was back in his room like nothing ever happened.

Although that was a lie. He felt something awaken in him but he was unsure of what that could exactly be. There was also the issue of the timer that was now embedded into his left wrist. At first, he thought that it was some weird way to keep track of time but… there was too much time written— exactly a hundred twenty years’ worth, that had an excess of three hundred hours and twenty-one minutes with the seconds counting down.

It looked almost exactly like the weird timer that the crazy dog lady had…. !!

Turns out the lady was also a Time Keeper aligned with the Leo zodiac. Suddenly, she wasn’t so crazy after all. Her name was Holland and all those dogs she has? They’re actually her familiars. She knew Luca had a gift for magic, so that’s why she was so eager to share her tomes with him. However, she didn’t account for the possibility that he would have engaged a contract just like she had many winters ago. Since he had, she became his mentor and taught him about what there was to know about being a Time Keeper. She helped him discover his new abilities and how to hone them. Being at Holland’s place was almost as natural as being at school.

It took around five years, but with Holland’s help, Luca awakened his bonded weapon: Constella. However, he won’t lie: the daggers were a little hard to get to use to and a bit unconventional for a mage. But this is where the academy came into play, it taught him how to rely on combat just as he depended on magic. Granted, the academy helped with more just combat lessons. It also opened possibilities of his magic that Holland otherwise couldn’t help with. It’s amazing what a mere two years’ worth of effort can do.

However, as graduation drew near, it arose another problem. How was he going to make it within the imperial ranks?

The rank of First Commander piqued his interest once he began to have more a concrete grasp of his talents. It might sound weird because Luca wasn’t a very…. heroic person. Nonetheless, he loved being able to help others. It was practically second nature for him and a First Commander had such an influence on the masses regardless of duty. He’s seen what being such a high rank could do for common good and that’s all he could ever want to do.

Therefore, one can imagine how hard it was for him when he didn’t make the cut.

Luca always knew that there would be boundless of responsibilities of being a First Commander but it didn’t dawn on him until the career training began. The regimen was brutal, almost heartless that even some of the best of his class couldn’t cut it. There was little mercy for him: his immune system still wasn’t great and was a worse burden now more than ever. Plus, his magic wasn’t entirely offensive and his combat slacked in comparison to what was expected, so his mentors were extra hard on him.

Every part of him wanted to believe that he could do it but reality wasn’t as resilient. His dreams of being First Commander were over.

Oh, but don’t think that stopped him from joining the imperial militia all together. Luca might not have had the credentials to be a Commander but he had more than enough to qualify to become a Lieutenant Caster and that’s exactly what he became. It might have been a step down but he’s making the best of it.
