Alder is a former resident of Ryūgū-jō Kingdom. Born into the equivalent of a middle-class family, his family owned and ran a clothing and weaving store on the first floor of their home. He wasn’t born into a life of magic but he always admire the magic users from afar.

One of the reasons why he wanted to learn magic was due to his childhood friend being a mage in training. He would often chat with them about their family, their lives, and their dreams in some aspects. On the last few days, they were able to chat before they had to move away, his friend gave him a red scarf as a remembrance for them. It was only months later that Alder found out his friend died, a training exercise gone wrong.

After that moment, he dedicated his time to research and work on becoming a sorcerer but it was much harder than he ever imagined. It took him 7 years in order to learn a basic spell. It was a combination of struggling to understand for a while and the kingdom’s class system and hierarchy, with roadblocks at what seemed like every turn in and out of his home. 

By the time he was 20, he decided to leave his home, family, and kingdom. It would be a challenge to live outside of the merkingdom but with his new staff and growing knowledge of magic, there was this confidence that he could survive outside of the kingdom. Now he simply wonders about the ocean helping those in need.
