Wait 'til my sisters hear about how cool life's been on the surface!

An Underworld river nymph born from the Goddess Lethe, Briseis spent her days helping shades cross over to Elysium alongside her many sisters. She briefly worked under Hecate as a handmaiden, bearing torches and accompanying her on her nightly travels.

Following the end of the War between Heaven and Hell, Bri left the Underworld to pursue more exciting goals and aspirations. She caught interest in a local high school and eagerly enrolled in a multitude of classes and extracurriculars. Living in Chromatica, the city of New America, Bri formerly stays with her fae foster parents (adopting their surname "Mcfarlane") and strives to do her best as a gifted student.

Briseis is one of six Daydreamers who are distantly related to Primordial Death and have inherited the ability to transform into a magical girl. Together, they protect the school from being overcome by Dreameaters and monsters alike.

I Wish

You have an odd sense of control over the real world and can alter reality in small ways. You can make an Alter reality check with Mystical. On a 10+, hold 2, on a 7–9, hold 1. On a 6 or less, reality refuses to budge, and you take 2 harm. You can spend those holds on:
  • You summon a small common item that can fit into your hand from somewhere, and you’re not sure where it came from.
  • Open or shut a door or window that is unlocked.
  • Unlock a simple, mechanical lock.
  • Lift or move an object weighing 5 pounds or less.
  • Cause the general light in an area to brighten or dim for a minute.
  • Increase or decrease the sound of your voice.

Hex!

Roll +Mystical. On a 12+ hold 3, on a 10+ hold 2, on a 7–9, hold 1. On a 6 or lower, the hex backfires and the GM can use hold 1 against you. The holds can be spent on:
  • Your hex causes 1 damage to the target.
  • The target can't flee the battle or area.
  • The target is slowed somehow, so Clash actions gain +1 against the target.
  • The target must answer one question asked truthfully.
  • The target is forced to drop an item that it’s holding.
  • Inflict a negative condition on a target.

Magical Assistance

Whenever you must Thwart peril, you can try to use your natural magical ability instead. Roll +Mystical instead of Physical. On a 6 or lower, the villains may gain insight to your current location.

Do You Trust Me?

People immediately like and trust your hero. You have the benefit of rolling a 7–9 on a Convince someone check if you rolled a 6 or less.

The Underworld

Briseis grew up on the river banks of Lethe. With the help of her many sisters, her life's purpose was to convince shades to drink from the waters of forgetfulness in order for them to be able to reincarnate into their next life. She acted as a figment of trust and guidance for the deceased. Although she has never seen or spoken to her mother, Briseis has always felt comforted by her presence.

At some point, however, her mother arranged for Briseis to be a handmaiden for the goddess Hecate. Although unopposed, Bri greatly missed her family and home and found no interest in lighting crossroads and attending Hecate's travels. She worked for her for what felt like hundreds of years... the Underworld had become so different over time that Briseis could barely recognize it. When news broke out that another war on Earth had ended, she slipped away when no one was looking and fled to the surface.

Chromatica High

Briseis eventually found her way to Chromatica, the city of New America, where she discovered a local high school accepting of students of supernatural stature and abilities. In order to attend, she first needed a place to stay; hence, she found a fae couple who was willing to take her in as their own daughter until Bri would be ready to live on her own. She adopted their last name, Mcfarlane, and enrolled in Chromatica High as a junior.

Briseis was thrilled to be in school. It was a completely different way of living. There were so many things to do and learn, Bri wanted to master all of it. She was gifted in a lot of subjects she didn't even know she was gifted in. And better yet, they encouraged and taught magic! Going there was like a dream come true. She would not know her skills would be needed until the day Death called upon her.

The Daydreamers

Patron
Death

Briseis is part of a small-knit group of students whose role is to protect their school from Dream Eaters and uncover the true intentions of the King of Dreams. By flipping her obol, she is able to transform into a magical form which allows her to fight back against Somnus' schemes while being obscured from the mundane eye.

Bri likes hanging out with Iris, especially because of their common love for swimming. One time Iris even gave her mouth to mouth CPR! Though, Bri doesn't quite understand why she freaked out so much...

Hazel is really, really nice. Although the two of them are different kinds of nymphs, Bri still feels a sort of kinship with her. Water and nature are supposed to go hand in hand after all.

Prismo is funny and weird. Bri likes the way he thinks and wishes she could get a sneak peek underneath his cloak one of these days.

The two of them hang out between classes quite a bit. Although their personalities differ greatly, Bri still enjoys listening to Hee Sung's rambles about the latest idol gossip. Plus, her singing is super duper pretty.

Bri adores Devon and wishes she was as buff as he is. That's why he's now her gym bro and workout spotter! But, ugh, why does he have to run so fast for the mile all the time?

  • Her favorite subjects are history, home ec, and art.
  • Is a setter for the Chromatica High Volleyball team.
  • Loves taking a dip in the pool, especially on hot summer days.
  • Found out that her blood is the color brown during Session 5's Blood Drive.
  • Smells like water from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Charon's Obol

latest.png

A gift from Death himself. By flipping the obol, it allows her to transform into a Daydreamer which lets her gain access to her mystical connection. She is able to fight Dream Eaters in this form while remaining invisible to non-magical entities.

Lethe Water

360.png

A vial of water from Bri's birthplace, the river Lethe. She holds onto it as a keepsake to remind her of both her home as well as her mother. Drinking it would cause one's memory to be erased. Strangely, it never seems to evaporate.

Miscellaneous Gems

Gemstone.png

A bunch of gems buried in the pockets of her backpack. She's not quite sure where they originally came from, but Briseis adores their inner sparkle.
