Summary

As a person, Rose is the stoic sort at first. He comes off as admittedly intimidating. He's obviously strong and imposing, and this coupled with his typically stern expressions and serious manner of speaking can scare people off. He's often blunt and to-the-point, preferring to focus on the facts he can see around him rather than how he feels. He can even seem bitchy in the right circumstances. However, he is far from as cold or mean as he first appears, and often feels bad if he scares others away without meaning to. In truth, he's quite kind and gentle at heart. He has a more nurturing demeanor than one would expect, and treats those around him with gentleness and respect. He takes his role as a caretaker very seriously, and has pride in being able to help others, no matter their circumstance. He's a stalwart and loyal man, who has a good sense for practicality. He's good at problem-solving and taking the reins in hard tasks, and shows a lot of patience under pressure. This level of patience and understanding extend to how he interacts with those around him (should they not get scared away by his first impression.) He greatly believes in the idea of showing kindness to everyone, and thinks that even a small good gesture can change the trajectory of one's life for the better. He's just bad at really showing it.

Growing up, displays of emotion often ended in Rose being punished, and he still has that mentality internalized. He feels that he can't show anything, or else bad things will happen to him. He struggles with feeling as though he can be fully casual, leading to his serious and professional mannerisms even when they aren't warranted. But he feels deeply and strongly despite this, and tries his best not to be intimidating when he doesn't have to be. He often makes this shown through gestures rather than words, as he finds it easier. He struggles with his self-confidence as well. He's a bit too self-sacrificial for his own good. He'll give a lot of himself for others, even at the cost of benefits to himself. He puts others' happiness above his own a lot, mostly thanks to this twisted self-confidence. He looks at himself quite lowly due to his background, and battles feelings of worthlessness or of being a "monster." He knows he didn't have a choice back then, but it still haunts him. Despite this, he tries to remember he's still good and deserving of love. The trauma and conflicts from his past take a lot to work through, but he does his best one step at a time.

While Rose tries to be a gentle giant, he is still tasked as a bodyguard for a reason. It's no secret or surprise that he can handle himself very well in combat. He knows a plethora of fighting techniques, both armed and unarmed, and has a wide arsenal he keeps on his person, typically in panels hidden under his skirt. He's resourceful enough that he could use just about anything as a weapon if he really needed to. He has the most experience with blades and guns, but he's not inherently picky. He is incredibly calculating and methodical in violent situations, able to adapt and work with scenarios on the fly. He can also be incredibly ruthless, something that was trained into him in the past. While he has a strict belief against killing now that he's escaped that life, if you make yourself an enemy of him or those he's close to, he will stop at nothing to take you down. No matter what it costs him, he'll keep those he holds dear safe.
