Maryam Attia
About
Bound to his righteous duty of protecting the innocents of Alruna from the Corruption, Maryam is a priest of The Goddess of Light. He is one of few inhabitants of their world that is able to purge the evil of the Goddess of Darkness. He treats his responsibility with the utmost importance and travels the continent of Qitta to ease the effects of the Corruption wherever he can.
But cleansing the evil of their world has a great toll; one must take the blight into themselves. One day, Maryam will perish from the corruption that he siphons from others. Despite this, he carries on...
"May the lilies bloom for me."
Combat
Reactive, rather than combative. He is more of a "monk" than a "priest" when it comes to battle; wiedling a staff and martial arts along with white magic.
White Magic
Healing, blessing, curing ailements and most importantly cleansing corruption: all of these things fall within his scope of white magic.
Rosewood Staff
A simple red bo staff made of rosewood.
Personality
Calm, patient, understanding. All of the qualities one would look for in a priest of Light; Maryam tries to exemplify Her teachings of harmony and goodness.
STEADFAST | GENEROUS | RETICENT
Though no one is perfect and even he has his moments of stubborness. He can be very tight lipped about himself, to the point that he may seem cold and withdrawn from any serious connections. Past the soft smile and gentle words of encouragement, there's a deep sombreness that radiates from him. He carries a heavy burden and will unwaveringly see his calling out, even if that means he forgoes comfort and companionship.

Trivia
- Ambidextrous, though mainly left handed. Very agile, he's a dex over str based unit.
- Originally from the country of Cataria; a land with a blend of real world arabic and chinese influences. He comes from a mountain monestery, like most other priests of the Light, and as such he prefers cooler weather and finds it difficult to function in extreme heat. He'll bear it, but he's prone to dizzy spells and possibly fainting since he won't mention his discomfort and try to stubbornly push on, way past his limits.
- Being very aware of his own mortality and imminent death, Maryam tries to keep people even further than arms length. While he believes this is for the better of those that may get close to him (he wouldn't want them to mourn him), perhaps a part of him also fears earthly ties that may cause him to want to live longer.
